Read in a day - the writing sucked me in.
Hope goes through her mail to find an envelope shoved through her slot - no return address, no stamp.
Inside is a delicate newsclip - an infant stolen from a mother's car. Hope wonders why it's in her mail when she notices the baby's ear - the top is missing. Just like hers.
Her mother denies it all. But Hope can't let it rest. With the help of her bestie, Stephen, Hope begins an adventure of intrigue.
Loved the characters.
Excellent build up to the end - though predictable, enjoyable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ wow. That was an unexpected tale of family secrets! Hope Taylor is a strong woman, living on her own at 34 years old having lost her leg in a road traffic accident. Her neighbour is a lovely elderly gent who likes to keep an eye on her and her property. Her best friend is Stephen. She received an old article through her door which intrigues her......... Can she solve the puzzle?

Hope comes home to a pile of mail like any other day, but this day there is a piece of mail that is slipped in among the rest and it is a newspaper clipping from many years prior about a missing girl and this missing girl has a unique birth defect, just like Hope, what could this mean?

I love a good twisty turny mystery, but this one felt unique as one of the big mysteries is solved half way through the book, but then from there takes some interesting turns. I appreciated that the story was more than the discovery of her link to the missing girl and that the author took it to the next level.

A woman comes home one day to find a newspaper clipping in her mail. It’s an article about a missing child cold case. The child in the photo has the same ear deformation as she does. She sets out on a mission to find out who she is.

I can’t imagine going through something like this. Hope handles the questions beautifully, not trying to upset anyone. As she learns about her past and meets new people she is a bit too trusting in my opinion but it is an innocence. If you like family books and finding out who your family really is, you will love this book.

This is definitely one of the longest, drawn out, slow burn reads that I’ve come across in a long time. The blurb sounded good and the storyline had great potential but it just fell flat after all the build up and suspense when it all came together. I found it a slog to keep turning the pages and you weren’t really given much to keep the attention other then it being drawn out far longer then needed. The characters were a little flat for me also. Likeable enough but just not much depth.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review #TheChildInThePhoto

Meh, was ok, bit bland in parts, had to force myself to finish.
