This book kept me hooked. Going to definitely look into more books by this author!!!!!

As for the story, Brooke honey - WTF. Have you ever heard of following your cut feeling?!? Clearly not.

But the plot twist at the end & generational habits - INSANE.

I’m on holiday btw! And on holiday I read thrillers.
This was okay. I think I hate the majority of Freida’s MCs, but maybe I’m supposed to?

“I close my eyes and I can still see his ruggedly handsome face. His eyes looking into mine. I love you, Brooke. That was what he said to me just a few hours before he tried to kill me. And that’s not even the worst thing he did.”

The Inmate follows Brooke who is a nurse. She’s recently taken a new nursing job at a local prison. The kicker is that one of the inmate’s she’ll now have to treat is her childhood sweetheart, and he’s in prison because of her testimony.

I loved the premise of this one. I overall had a good time with it, but did find the writing and character’s dialogue a bit lacking. This was very much written in a “tell not show” manner and I felt like a lot was repetitive. The main character Brooke is a little insufferable. She was constantly putting herself in compromising situations. 😫 Final reveal was a bit far fetched but for a quick thriller it was good! Ending leaves it open for a possible sequel 👀
