a really interesting interpretation of one of my favourite greek tragedies, antigone.
i really liked how williams refigured the gods as security cameras - they are always watching, constantly there. the cyclical nature of the bodies on stage, too, was powerful.
as always i really wish i could watch this on stage to hear how it is all delivered. so much of these modern tragedies, in my opinion, is down to staging.
i loved the relationship between esme and tig, as always. their love is fractured and reluctant, but deep down they will do anything for each other.

Much like Oedipus at Colonus, I found this extremely boring. There was once again no real intrigue in the events that were happening, and I feel like everything fell flat. I loved the women in this story though, because they always stood their ground. I think my problem with Greek plays, or maybe just with Sophocles, is that all of the big events that happen are always told to us by a messenger or an outside force, and we often aren't in the mist of the big event that happens. I think that's why everything fell flat for me.
