I've been reading so many Max Monroe books recently, my latest one being Accidental Attachment. I was so happy to see Brooke Baker- the MC from that book- bought into this one. Both can still be read as standalones, no problem.

Set at a primary school, Katy is the math teacher and Mack is the music teacher. Their classrooms are right next to each other. And then it does make sense for Katy to hate Mack's loud classes. The story starts in their workplace, then them accidentally double booking their stay for the week.

While this book was a fun and easy read, I'm not the biggest fan of the characters, neither of whom came off as put together to me. Of course, they take responsibilities but the way their personalities changed all the time was just annoying. Their backgrounds of Katy being born to teen parents and Mack being a surprise baby with older parents were interesting. I wish they had been explored more coz that bit had so much potential.

I hated the voice of the male narrator. Just too high pitched and didn't give me grown up vibes. He sounded like a spoilt teen and wasn't able to translate the words properly in the audiobook. I don't recommend listening to the audio version of this book.

This was an ok rom com. I felt like the vacation storyline resolved too quickly and I didn't enjoy the rest of the story as much due to some of the tropes.

I listened to this on audiobook and thought the female narrator did a great job. I didn't love the male narrator's portrayal of the femal FMC because it felt shrill or that he was making fun of her almost.

Overall, if you want a quick read this is fine and has a few good spicy scenes.

I will say - the mouth on the male main character kept this from being 2 stars. Mac Houston can give me dirty talk any time!

This book was a nice change after reading so many dark romances. And Max has never disappointed me! It was lighthearted and hilarious! I enjoy Max Monroe's writing so much! It's always pretty fast-paced and a good time with a super lovable MMC!

Mack's fun-loving and playful personality was such a good balance to Katy's need to control and have balance.

"He can make even the simplest, most mundane tasks like making breakfast and setting the table entertaining, and I never know what’s going to come out of his smart mouth."

Best Frenemies is an enemies to lover book. With a little forced proximity to go along. Kate and Mac are both teachers at an elementary school in New York, she teaches math and he is the music teacher right next door. Mac tries to annoy Kate sometimes, but when they end up in the same condo for spring break, he decides maybe annoyance isn't the way to go. He decides to kill her with kindness, after she finds him drinking her wine and eating her donuts!! From there, the RomCom commences! There are characters that are from previous Max Monroe books, a cameo appearance really. They added even more comedy to the mix. Overall, this was a good, laugh out loud, book. There were a couple spots that were a bit of a lull but they were so small in comparison to some of the other things going on. This is definitely a book to look into if you like enemies to lovers stories, RomComs, or anything by Max Monroe, These ladies know how to write a story. And apparently this one was so potent, one of the authors ended up pregnant! Not sure how that happened but that's the word on the streets. I recommend this book to lovers of laughter and spice!!

Best Frenemies is a fun combination of funny, sexy and sweet. I loved watching Katy and Mack fall in love. I liked that Mack was a bit sweeter than everyone (including him) thought and Katy was a bit more spontaneous. I really enjoyed the cameos from characters from Accidental Attachment and the references to Brooke's book. I really enjoyed the forced proximity vacation and how great Mack was at taking care of Brooke! Max Monroe's humor is funny but it's a little unusual for romance. I usually find it funny but every now and then there is a joke that doesn't work for me (e.g. joking that a man has a vagina as a put down). It's probably accurate for the character making the joke but romance can be an escape from that. I recommend this one but with the caveat that the humor may or may not work for you. You'll be able to tell pretty quickly if it's a definite no for you. I'm definietly looking forward to Sammy and Noah's story in the next one!

I listened to the audiobook version of this one and thought the narration was great! This one is duel narration for those who prefer single or duel narration.

Thanks to Max and Munroe as well as Netgalley for providing me with an audio arc of this title!

Spoiler
While this is a spoiler I did want to add that this one includes the accidental pregnancy trope so if you don't like that skip this one. Finally, I wasn't completely satisfied with how the pregnancy was handled. It had not been discussed and there was no talk about how it should be handled. Additionally, the heroine felt guilty for not being happy. I think it's very understandable not to be happy if you are accidentally pregnant and don't know the status of your relationship with the father. We don't need to tell women they need to be happy about a pregnancy in any circumstances.

Funny, cute, and completely entertaining, Best Frenemies is filled with the cheekiness and hilarity that I've come to expect from Max Monroe. Mack and Katy find themselves entangled despite hating each other on a very fateful spring break, and their connection turns into something more. This is an endearingly funny romcom, and it's going to leave you smiling.
