Is it too early to start getting into the festive spirit?

This book was SO funny, which is what made it super enjoyable. First time reading a book set near Cornwall/in Cornwall. Eden's parents with their speeches had me in hysterics and weirdly it suited them so well. Absolutely loved the humour in this book.

I think it gave me more romance, angst and dreams do come true vibes rather than Christmas vibes but that's okay. I think I enjoyed the fact that it was more romance focused - a romance that took place during Christmas and not Christmas with romance, if you get me. At times, I did get a bit frustrated with the main characters - is it so hard to just talk to each-other? But yes, life is messy so it often is, so I'm not upset by this, still a stellar read.

Note: Goodreads says this book has 268 pages, but actually it has 350.

DNF at 66%.
MILD SPOILERS, it’s a Christmas book, we all know what happens.
I’m never this critical over books but I haven’t seen any reviews talking about these things.

The book is basically about two friends who have been in love with each other since they were children. The male mc leaves for New York after their first kiss but they keep in touch and now he’s moving back.

From the beginning you can see how in love both of them are. They hug, kiss and even sleep in the same bed. Eden even gave up on boys because she feels like they’ll never amount to Dougie.

The dialogues were extremely long, I skimmed a lot and most of them were very unnecessary. The writing style was poor and everyone seemed very childish.

Eden’s parents have no boundaries, in the two instances they spoke, they mentioned so much about their sex life that no one needed to know.

Something that also bothered me is that if I remember correctly, this woman is in her late 20s wearing a tiara, unicorn dress and pink unicorn converse for a date she’s been waiting for since she was 17. No puede ser por favor señora.

When her wishes came true she became a spoiled brat. Not to mention the fact that she doubted dougies every move even when the man moved from a different continent to be with her. I understand trust issues, but if you’re self sabotaging yourself when the guy has been nothing but perfect then you’re the problem.

I genuinely couldn’t stand her when one of her wishes came true so I just dnfed.

Honorable mention:
The “making love scene” please stop.
