Love love this Crowns of Nyaxia series 😭🤩 Def recommend if anyone is in the mood for an action-packed fantasy romance with dual POV, winged vampires, kings & nobles, battles/war, magic, and a little mystery.

There’s more plot than romance, and I wouldn’t say it’s super ‘high’ fantasy—there is a map, but the world, races, magic, gods, etc. aren’t too complicated or confusing. The writing style is very readable and so fun with all the diff callbacks and character relationships.

If it’s not a Coriatis bond then I don’t want it! 🫶 💁🏻‍♀️
“Loving Oraya was terrifying.
It required me to see things I didn’t want to see. Face things I didn’t want to face. Allow another soul to witness parts of myself I didn’t even want to acknowledge.
I now felt like such a fucking fool that I had never thought of it in that way, with that word, until this moment.
Of course it was love.
What else could it be, for someone to see that much of you? To see so much beauty in the parts of someone that they hate in themselves?
I almost wished I hadn’t had the realization, because it made what loomed ahead that much more devastating. Easier to have nothing to lose.”

I really struggled on whether to rate this 4 stars or 4.5 stars, which is very disappointing because the first book was one of my top books of the year. However, it was mind blowing and amazing,  but went on at LEAST 100 pages too long. Maybe even 150 pages too long. They didn't need to have
Orya almost die SO MANY TIMES only for her to heal in ONE DAY and come back so much stronger somehow. Once or twice sure, but it happened like 4 times in this one singular book and it ate up 50-100 pages each time. I think for the elongated scenes and the almost dying so many times subtract half of a star for me, only because the emotional turmoil this book put me through and the slow burn of it all made me so freaking happy otherwise.
Otherwise, the book was heart wrenching and amazing and I loved every moment of their relationship. I loved the development Orya made and how devoted Raihn is. I love all the side characters, and I loved seeing Vale and Lillith again. Amazing book. I cried multiple times! (out of joy!) And also, severe daddy issues! I get it girl. Man was a terrible father....

I drank this up. Love the action, the new take on vampires (now with WINGS!) and complicated relationship between Oraya and her father. Slow-burn romance.

Continuing from the first book in this duology, I am again conflicted in my review. I did get more about the gods and Vincent/Oraya's past, which is what I was looking for, but... this dragged. I just never felt the chemistry between Raihn & Oraya and so when they were fighting over what Raihn did (which - valid, girl, I don't know if I could be in the same room with him after that in the beginning) I wasn't super rooting for them to get back together. I found myself skimming pages to get to the good parts. The ending was, in some ways, expected and, in others, unsatisfying. Now the question becomes - do I do what I did to myself with the Hades/Persephone series and push to read the rest in this world to see if it gets better or do I cut my losses on this series? Time will tell.
