A STORY ABOUT LEARNING TO LOVE YOURSELF AND COMING TO TERMS WITH WHO YOU ARE AND DEALING WITH THE DEMONS IN YOUR PAST. AND SOME SPICE THROWN IN TOO. ;)

Pen pals who don’t want to meet and ruin what they have built over the years. But when deceptions and lies are found out, their relationship is tested. Each character has their own past and their own demons to deal with. Learning to deal with the decisions made and love yourself are big themes in this book.

This is an excellent book that anyone can relate too. And there are some spicy scenes too. (Yes it adds to the plot too.)

Excellent book that I’ll definitely reread in the future.

Where do I even begin?

There are so many things in this book that just pissed me off. I’ve read reviews and heard people talk about this book but I’m just not sure we read the same book because this book was so problematic.

1. When Mischa meets Reyna and instantly hates her because she isn’t like whom he pictured. I’m pretty sure he said he’d thought of her as someone with glasses and braces (correct me if I am wrong). Obviously being a bombshell is just the worst.
2. Reyna was whiny and constantly had a pity party about things that happened to her when she was a child. Don’t get me wrong. I and not discounting the fact that she was bullied and has always felt lonely as a child. But that level of self pity is not healthy.
3. That Reyna fantasised about Micha without ever knowing what he looked like. That whole party just didn’t match with the story because before that there was no indication she had been in love with him from before they met. It’s like the author just threw that in there to give another layer to their relationship. Also it was Mischa who brought up the fact that she probably didn’t have sex with any one because she was waiting for him.
4. Reyna’s friends. Don’t even get me started on how fucked up they were. None of them treated her right not did they treat anyone else right. They were shitty as fuck.
5. Trey our resident SOB. He was such a disposable character that I could not stand him. The worst part I think were the pictures of the girls that he had.
6. That when Reyna found out about the pictures she wasn’t even concerned about her friend. I know she doesn’t really consider them as her friends, especially Layla, but she should have areas let her friend know.
7. Micha. PERIOD. I don’t think there was anything about him that I actually liked.
8. Dubious consent. She said no but he ignores her but then he touches her and forgets that she said no. Like WTF?

There’s more but I think do now rant is over.

Now I’m wondering why I even continued with this book.

3/5 Steam Rating
Available on Dual POV; Friends to Enemies to Lovers

This was an interesting story. A bit of Friends to Enemies to Lovers? While this is classified as a romance and is steamy, I’d rather consider it a redemption & coming of age story. Ryen is so easy to dislike at the beginning, so we get to watch her transform and evolve throughout these pages. Although I disagreed with many things Ryen did, I can see why a teen could make those decisions. Thankfully, we got to see her change and mature (kinda) at the end of the book.

There were some twists throughout this story, even though I was easily about to call them mile ahead of time.

Overall, not the worse but very forgettable

⭐️3.5 The story actually flowed well but there were a couples things that did not make sense to me. How did Manny give Ryen so quickly? Because he was desperate to have a friend? Especially the one who was once his friend in grade school? I am fully aware that dark romance books contain elements that are not socially acceptable and only serve special purposes for entertainment. I am not saying bullying is fine but I consider the "bullying actions" between two MCs as "fine" because it is designed to create tension, love, hate, angst, etc for a book. But when it extends to other secondary characters, I would start to feel uncomfortable as I was once again involved this sort of problematic situation like the ones I experienced IRL... Also Ten, JD and Manny were not even mentioned in epilogue, like they did not matter to the story. At least give a sentence or two to tell us where they were in their lives...

im kinda having mixed opinions on this book, i liked it but at the same time i felt frustrated and annoyed with everyone in this book

i felt like this book went out of its way to be more complicated than it should be i thought it was an okay read, i’ve definitely read way better books

everyone in this book just seemed to be assholes and what’s up with their literally being no supporting female friendships???

and for misha it seemed like under his logic in order to fight against ryen’s bullying he would use bullying?? and why was she so quick to kiss him when he literally was being such an asshole to her in the literally 3 conversations they had?? like girl do you even know his last name????

and here’s a hot take: although musicians and artists are always hot, the idea of being sang or performed to just gives me such an ick i don’t know why
