I think this book is really good as it portrays the pain of feeling isolated by making the cause physical rather than mental. It also adresses peoples prescrives, truth and lies as well as family.
Would really recommend, a short book but a feel good one.
Really enjoyed the plot of the book and not one that I predicted which was really nice

3.8 ⭐️. Really cool setting, plot, and characters, but I feel like it could’ve been executed better. I was excited for the fem romance but they didn’t get much relationship development so that was disappointing.

“To anyone who has ever felt poisonous or monstrous or bristling with thorns.”

“Stories always begin the same way: There was and there was not. There is possibility in those words, the chance for hope or despair.”

“There’s something restless growing within you. We’re all very curious to see what happens when it breaks free.”

I really really enjoyed this! I do wish that the author went more in depth with Parveneh and Soraya and their relationship, but aside from that I really liked this!

A fairytale retelling with a powerhouse female lead set in the the beautifully-drawn setting of Atashar (ancient Persia). What I loved most about this story was 1) The strong setting and incredible world-building which brought Soraya and her life before my eyes 2) Character growth - I loved seeing Soraya embrace herself as the story went on 3) One of the most complex villain characters I've read in recent memory. The plot was maybe a tiny bit slow for my taste, but don't let that deter you. Read this one!
