Difficult to finish. Sloan is incredibly annoying in the first half of the book. Their is no mystery or tension to build between the two of them.

This is easily one of the best mafia romances I have ever read purely based on the witty banter. It was absolutely hilarious! The only reason I’m not giving this book a full 5 stars is because I found the
Spoiler pregnancy scare and argument over a woman’s right to choose
to be ridiculous and infuriating.

Sloan is kidnapped by Declan, the head of the Irish mob, in retaliation for "starting" a war between Mafia families.

I love Sloan so much. She is strong, badass, and so funny. She is often brushed off as being a bimbo and dumb because of the way she looks, be she is incredibly smart. She is able to charm every person who walks into her life, including these rough Mafia men. She has a tough shell due to a traumatic childhood and "doesn't keep boyfriends" because of it. As she develops feelings for Declan, she really struggles to accept them.

Declan has a reputation for being cruel, yet he treats Sloan with respect and never hurts her, even when she is annoying him and charming his men. He completely falls under Sloan's spell and would do anything for her.

I love these two together. The banter between them is so funny and had me laughing so many times.  They have so much chemistry. There was an interesting twist with Declan, that I kind of saw coming, but made the book a bit more interesting.

I like that we get glimpses of Kage and Natalie within this book.

Tropes: Mafia, kidnapped FMC, protective alpha MMC, enemies to lovers, age gap, open door

The banter in this one was pretty good. Sloan was a smart ass but actually showed the wit to back it up; we aren’t just told that she’s sassy, we get to see plenty of it, and it’s quality writing.

After reading the first two in this series and the synopsis of the next book, I’m expecting every book to include kidnapping and lots of spanking. This one had too much “yes, sir” from Sloan, who in the audiobook just sounded sarcastic anyway.

TW/CW: brief mentions of
Spoiler past rape, child abuse by fat shaming, self harm, suicidal thoughts, and death of parent by cancer.

The banter between Sloane and Declan is so goddamn funny. And of course the spice is everything. I loved the evolution of their story, and how they were each able to heal themselves and each other. Sloane is one of my alllllll time fav FMCs.
