The Vine Witch is the perfect book for fall, or even as we transition to the coziness of winter. It’s full of ambience and warm characters.
The vineyards at Chateau Renard are grateful for the love and care of the vine witches, who assist in the creation of the famous wine. All that falls apart when Elena Boureanu is cursed.
Many seasons later, Elena has finally broken free of the curse and seeks to return to her vineyard when she finds a handsome man, Jean-Paul Martel, now owns it.
Jean-Paul believes in the science of the wine and not sorcery. Elena sees the vineyard needs her help, and she’ll have to offer it covertly so Jean-Paul won’t know. Will the vineyard overcome?
The atmosphere pulls you right in with the vineyards and France. I loved the folklore of witches being the ones to make the world-renowned wine. Elena and Jean-Paul are strong characters, and I loved the chemistry between them.
I will say the pacing was stronger for the first half of the book than the second, but that didn’t affect my overall enjoyment. Luanne Smith’s beautiful writing and this charming, inventive, and exciting storyline kept me intrigued throughout.

Smith's books are guilty pleasures, but they sure are enjoyable! Think of unique and creative fairy tales for grown-up with some romance in them, a LOT of magic, and very unique settings and plotlines.

Slow start but hit more interesting as it went on. Kind of predictable in terms of who the villain was, with a slight twist at the end. I'd give it 3.5.

Delightfully witchy. I honestly don't understand all the low reviews because I couldn't put this down! Fun and full of potential, I am excited to see where the series goes!

The first chapter caught my attention, but then for a while it turned into a Hallmark Movie plot. Once the accusations occur things got really good for a while and I couldn't put it down. I could've done without the sappy, poorly developed romance and the loose end of the original curse being tied up in a very convenient way, but parts of it showed promise. Honestly if we removed the thrown together romantic subplot and focused on the relationship between the figutive witches and developed Yvette more I think it could've been amazing.

I feel like I must have read a different book than some of these reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed every page ... and was sad it ended ... until I saw there was a sequel ... yay!! This was a perfect summer read ... just my cup of tea. Beautifully written ... lovely language and descriptions.

I loved this book and ended up getting the entire trilogy. I'm absolutely enamored with the characters. The plot moved along well and the book was just delightful. It was a shorter read but such a good story. I can't wait to finish the other two books in the series!

passed the time
The book started great and held my attention for majority of the book. The romance aspect wasn’t thought out too much in my opinion. When the two protagonists meet they didn’t care much for each other and the it seemed out of nowhere they fell in love for no good reason. I’ll also say it was a bit predictable early on who the bad guy was despite it trying to keep things a mystery. I was surprised closer to the end however. Overall an entertaining read

Enchanting
This book holds one of the best first chapters I've ever read. And, to my delighted surprise, the rest of the story was just as enjoyable. I would love to see this in movie form, I think it holds just the right magic.
My only complaint in one tiny loose end for a secondary character. But maybe, that's for another book?
