Other reviews seem to take this as the worst book in the series -- slow and boring being the watchwords of those comments -- but I actually didn't find it slow. I enjoyed the race across the desert, the different interactions the dragons had and the fact that there were some new dragons and new lands to explore. Definitely a bit slower than the others, but not as deadly as expected.

This one was really kind of bad. I didn't appreciate the increased frequency of swearing, even if it was realistic. The plot dragged, and the characters didn't seem to grow at all. Parts of the world building were good, and I'm glad that the consequences of some actions in earlier books were shown in this one.

Kulingile is such a dear. Knowing beforehand the Rankin situation made it slightly more bearable this time; as well as seeing Laurence no longer so depressed. Some fantastic Roland scenes; this made me want an entire Demane & Roland book set after the end of the series.

A man and dragon discover how very big Australia is. Spoiler Alert: it's very big.

Very slow, felt like an extended intro to a book rather than a whole story in itself

This is my least favorite so far. The plot was very meandering with no clear focus throughout. It seemed to drag on forever until the sudden ending. All of the books tend to be like this a little, but this book was just much harder to get through.

I listen to audiobooks at work, and I tore through the first few  and just burned out on it. I'll come back in a month or so.

Laurence and Temeraire have been exiled to Australia for treason. Along with several other members of the company they travel across the country at first looking for a way through the mountains and then looking for a stolen egg. This is one of my favorite series and was a good addition, although a bit slow in the middle.
