Read for a book club, and was so happy to get sucked in to the story when reading has been hard for me this year. The side characters were the best part, along with Kingfisher's penchant for exploring the mundane everyday parts of life in her fantasy stories.

Audiobook was GREAT, Amara Jasper did a fantastic job.

I love Kingfisher’s fairy tales. This one seemed to divert a few times but when it was on track, it was amazing.

This book has greats characters, dark humour and an excellent story, all wrapped up in fantastic gothic prose.

If your looking for a modern fairytale with a classic edge and really satisfying ending, then I'd definitely recommend that you give this book a try.
