I loved this. The history between Amelia and Israel just made the story better. Sometimes with shorter novels feel like something is being left out but I felt like we were brought into the story nicely and it ended with me excited for the other books with Israel's brothers. The family aspect of the friend group was great, I am excited for the continuation of the series. Ismael was also my favorite brother I am excited about his book!

CW: This book does have the N word in it. But not in a slur way, and its black people using it. But just warning you bc it was a jump scare for me for sure

Thank god for this book because I was in the middle of reading That Sick Love and needed a break from it. (I ended up DNF'ing it) This helped my mental state recover though because it was so sweet! Novellas are hard for me to sit back and enjoy because of how short they are but this was super cute. Amelia and Ishmael are best friends who have always loved each other which worked well for a novella length book. I can't deal with insta love, but them being friends to lovers remedied that issue.

Pick this up if you need a book that will make you feel all warm and gooey!

Short, Intimate and so very Poignant.

WOW. I think I've just found a new favourite author. I truly fell in love with Asia Monique's characters from page one and her writing was exquisite...it felt immersive and intimate, to the point where I sometimes felt like an intruder in Amelia and Is's own special bubble.
I savoured the story quite slowly and I didn't realize it was only 158 pages long as it honestly read like a full length novel, not a single aspect is rushed and I was left completely satisfied. Would I have read another 150 pages of them dating, spending time with their families and building a life together? Obviously I would have, but I also think that the story is perfect just the way it is.

Before reading, please check for Trigger Warnings. Your mental health is way more important.

“I didn't tell you this back then, but I'm telling you now that you're beautiful. Your freckles are beautiful. You're strong, smart, and resilient. I see you, I hear you, I adore you. I love you. And I hope that you can forgive me for waiting so long to tell you these things.
Just know that we made it. We're okay. You are okay. Love, your twenty-nine-year-old self."

the only part i felt in my soul the rest of this book was super short with no much character development. Felt like it could have been a bit longer??? This was hyped up all over tiktok and I was sadly disappointed.
