Another audio DNF.
Unfortunately learned that I am not a fan of Gary Furlong and made it 40% before throwing in the towel.
I also realized that I need to stick to this author’s newer work. Michael is really unlikable and his feelings about masculinity and roles during sex are just gross. And I feel nothing for Josh. Just not invested at all.

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would because I usually get really squeamish at any medical related content so I was a little aprehensive, but it wasn't too bad.
I liked the way the relationship went from nothing to full on so fast but the self-sacrificing behaviour from Michael really annoyed me! I did like the ending, but I'd rather see the character working on themself and their self-improvement, rather than getting a brief recap of it after the fact and the story continuing on.
Intrigued for the rest of the series but I'm going to space them out just incase any medical stuff makes me unexpectedly queasy!

It’s a nice change for older characters to behave maturely. Leads were accountable for their mistakes, and most issues were talked through. I did think there was a bit too much going on in this book though, and I didn’t enjoy all the miscommunication issues that came up near the end. If a few drama points had been cut out, this would have been a stronger story.
Moderate: Violence, Blood, and Murder
Minor: Drug abuse and Rape

nice quick read to get out of a slump but def lost a few points with all the time skips at the end. i felt like i got every little detail about their feelings and relationship except when it mattered the most and it felt like the author got bored of the story.

Struggled with rating this.
It could have been great but things that let it down.
Pacing felt off, lots of stuff just happened off pagewe never saw anything from Michael's pov about going after Sasha/getting beat up a second time/found by the police
'Wolf-man' annoyed the hell out of me. Not sure why but it just threw me out the story.
So much casual sexism throughout as well - I'll lose my man card type comments
Changing pov mid chapter isn't my preference
Josh's parents were grade A w*nkers with toxic and hurtful opinions that never should have been allowed around a child. Especially one saying she doesn't want to see them.
It doesn't deserve a 2 because it was well written and a good story, but I've read later books by this author and can definitely see this an earlier one of theirs.

I loved this book. I listened to it via Chirp and loved Gary Furlong as he narrated these two complicated men. Josh looking for stability and long term, and Michael looking for the next good time clashed upon their meet cute. The steamy scenes were hot, along with bouts of sweetness and love with a bit of suspense. If you have a couple hours I would recommend this book.

***SPOILERS***
It started out great, but then they jumped into having sex way too quickly for how they were acting towards each other. I was willing to see how it went, but then Michael told Josh he doesn't bottom and when Josh kept going without pausing to have a conversation about it because Michael was still aroused and that must have meant he was into it, I couldn't keep reading. Michael's internals showed that he was conflicted but interested, but I just can't do a romance where one partner disregards the other in their very first penetrative encounter just because they didn't explicitly say, "Stop."
