This is the book that got me into reading and hating movie adaptations of books. Iconic of her.

This is the only book I tell people they must read in their lifetime. The book is my version of a perfected dystopian

📚 The Giver by Lois Lowry
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow. I can’t believe I never read this book before. I chose The Giver for the Popsugar Reading Challenge prompt: A book you should have read in high school. It was incredible. The kind of book you never forget. Jonas live in what appear to be a utopian community. There is a “sameness” among the people and they want for nothing. At age 12 he receives his work assignment and is surprised he has been chosen for a special role that will change his life, and they way he sees his community forever. This is a young adult book so the ideas are overly simplified and there are a lot of unanswered questions about the community, but ultimately this is a book about people and relationships, and the way our society treats people who don’t conform to the community’s norms. The Giver is on the list for frequently challenged books for banning. All the more reason you should read it.

Such a good novel.
Although it is meant for younger audiences, it does not shy away from gory details.
Made me think of another dystopia, 1984.
