WHY COLE?! WHY?! I rooted for you! You not only betrayed her, but ME! My heart aches.

This book...when does book 3 come out? 5(gazillion) stars.

I don't really have the words for what this book did to me. I need Brodi Ashton to send me book 3 and I am more than willing to offer up my services as a pre-reader (as if she doesn't probably already have a million offers for this).

After reading the novella about Cole I was excited to get into Everbound. I won't lie, he has become one of my favorite characters through the series...I know that this won't be what some people are expecting but he really isn't just a bad guy....Throughout this book, he continues to push Nikki to see that he does love her.

We don't get a lot of (current) Jack in this one but we do get to see how the relationship evolved for Nikki and Jack. I loved how Ashton did the flashbacks and integrated them into the current story. We truly got to see the friends to more progression and I enjoyed it.

I really liked the world building done in this book of the Everneath and the way Ashton took the reader on the journey with the group.

Now...since I am not giving any spoilers away, I will say that there is a HUGE twist at the end of this book and I was shocked (SHOCKED) at how it wrapped up. I can't really say what it is as I don't want to take away from anyone's enjoyment of the story progression but once you read it, you will see what I mean and understand why I can't say anything. Just trust me when I say, get this book, sit down, and enjoy the story.

HOLY SHIT! That plot twist at the end, that was fucking, I can't beleive that! I really didn't see that coming. Which is a good thing coming from a book. Most of the ones I've been reading have been fairly predictable and this one just threw you the left curve and I'm like BUT BUT BUT I NEED THE NEXT BOOK! It needs to happen like now, I need to know what's going to happen!

This book delved more into the Greek Myths (as well as a few others but Greek is the one it takes from the most) and I really liked that. I love books that have little hints toward Myths and you try to figure out how this is going to be involved in the story. This one just kept going the opposite way and I really liked that. I didn't know what was going to happen.

Nikki just wants to get the love of her life Jack, back from the Tunnels. The only way she can do that? Is getting the Everling who is in love with her, Cole, to help her reach the Tunnels. The problem? No one is ever known to actually have made it it to the Tunnels and lived to tell the tale. But Cole helps her through it all, through the three rings that make up the middle of the Everneath and into the Tunnels. There are trials and and things going on on the Surface that Nikki had to learn to balance without breaking relationships with her Father.

Cole, oh man, I admit things got to me. He was really sweet, loving and endearing, showing how much he really loved Nikki going through all of this. I was kinda going toward team Cole for a little while but through the flashbacks of Nikki and Jack it proves that their relationship is there to last.

I have NO idea where this book is going to go. There are so many unanswered things from the last thirty pages of the book! Why are people so different, what is going to happen after the HUGE twist at the end, who will get the happy ending? Can it be when ever the next book comes out now?

The concept of this series reads like a quasi-scary dream the author had one night after binging on too much crappy TV and fritos. The main character is utterly colorless, as is her boyfriend, who's only memorable characteristic is his lip ring (or eyebrow ring, I can't seem to remember, it's pointless anyways). The other male character, the villain and sometimes love interest, is nonredeemable, despite the authors's attempts to make him redeemable.

In total, I was excited for this book because of the possibilities, but it completely let me down. Flat, two-dimensional characters can't be saved by a fantastical, holes-ridden plot, no matter how hard you try.
