This was an absolutely stunning psychological thriller. You don’t want to know much about this book, other than the fact that Molly has to travel from London to New York after the shocking death of her twin Katie. She and her distraught parents struggle to make sense of this unexpected death, and Molly dives head first into trying to get answers. Right when you think you know what’s going on, the script is entirely flipped. If you love suspenseful thrillers that explore the deepest parts of a character’s psyche, add this to your TBR RIGHT NOW.

Twin sisters Molly and Katie are inseparable, until Katie decides to go to school in NY. Even though the distance created a slight rift in their relationship the girls tried to stay close and present in each other's lives. Sadly, this is short lived because Katie soon gets murdered. This story follows Molly as she travels to NY for the first time ever and meets her parents there to assist with the situation. While navigating the scary streets of NYC with a major anxiety/paranoia complex she starts to investigate who killed her sister on her own and comes to some shocking discoveries.

I love a good slow-burn whodunnit mystery, but this one just wasn't it. It was very repetitive and the writing was choppy at times. The killer was revealed around the 60% mark and even though the way it was revealed was twisty and juicy; I just didn't care for it. The last 40% wasn't what I was expecting and there was another interesting twist or two, but not enough for me to feel invested. The characters were unlikeable and the dialogue was just…off. The interactions were super awkward as well. This book was kind of a drag to be honest. The ending was very short and unsatisfying.

It had it's interesting moments but all in all, I'd say skip this one.

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

4.75 stars! woahhhh. so it took me a little bit to get into this book, but after about 25% i could not stop reading. the twists!! truly had my jaw in the floor, which almost never happens anymore. the only reason it’s not a full 5 star is because of the pacing in the beginning. i almost lost interest, but i’m sooo happy i kept reading because the midpoint twist was literally one of my favorite twists i’ve read.

I'm a big fan of Will Dean and I enjoyed this, for the most part, a great deal. I found myself very quickly gripped by it, drawn into the story of a young woman basically investigating the death of her sister.  The protagonist was an unusual and interesting character. The novel took an unexpected turn at a certain point, which completely blindsided me - but it worked for me, genuinely surprised me in a good way.

I was loving the book - until the ending. The ending didn't really make sense to me. I trusted that it made sense to Will Dean, but I didn't feel as connected to it making sense as I wanted to feel. There was one sentence in particular that I reread several times but I just couldn't understand how it fitted with events that had happened earlier in the novel. So this final twist was one twist too many for me, but I still enjoyed the book overall.
