Well, I started reading my last year in middle school the fall or 97 and I didn't finish it until the end of February of 1999 and I did a book report on and I got an A on it; it was one of those books that you can put away on the shelf then pick-up where you left out still understanding what is going on... !998 I started high school

"Rudy Baylor is a newly qualified lawyer with no money and a lot of debts. He takes on a case against a giant insurance company who refused a claim that could have saved a man's life. The case will make him a lot of money; the only problem is, he's never argued a case in court before." (From Amazon)
I love Rudy Baylor and this whole novel. Great characters and plot. I really enjoyed the movie starring Matt Damon.

Well written, but I thought the movie was more entertaining.

I enjoyed the book and following a new / young lawyer through first trial. It was a super easy read but I can't say I'll run to it again.

This is a really great book if you wanna get into courtroom dramas, but the ending was horrible (in my very humble opinion).
AND can we talk about the love interest for a second? Why does she pop up at random times without any context and then disappear for long stretches of times like she doesn’t even exist? I am sorry, but the character just seemed unnecessary, and existing only for adding a vaguely developed romance subplot. If only she had been given more time and a few scenes portraying her personality, she would’ve made a good character, but her spasmodic character development spoiled it for me.
If Grisham had stopped writing after the verdict, and cut out all the unnecessary details about the protagonist and his love interest at the end, this book could’ve been a solid five star. Overall, it met all the expectations I had from it, except for the ending, which was kind of like smelling an old shoe after walking through a lavender meadow.
