Read the prologue of this and I promise, you will be SOLD!

Cleverly written and engaging from page one, the Fury is told through the lens of Elliot Chase as he recounts his most recent trip to his friend’s private Greek island for Easter….which ultimately ends with one of the guests being murder.

I love how the story was written as if the narrator was talking to the reader. This conversational style allowed for the author to continuously recap the situation, review the cast of characters and bluntly remark on the turn of events. The past and present events weaved together seamlessly and the story was tactfully divided into five “acts” with short chapters that made it easy to keep turning the pages. While there was a slow burn feel to the story, the end definitely left me surprised!

Read if you like:
-Unique suspense plots
-Whodunit/ whydunit character study
-Greek island setting
-Famous characters
-Short chapters
-Agatha Christie references
-Everyone in My Family Killed Someone

An intriguing take on a murder mystery, including lots of breaking the fourth wall & unexpected POVs. The 3rd Act lost me a bit, but we regained the narrative for a whirlwind finish.

I’m not going to lie I was excited but hesitant to read The Fury after having not liked The Maidens as much as I loved The Silent Patient and I’m happy to report I enjoyed this read very much.

Elliot is the ultimate unreliable narrator and he tells the story perfectly. It is incredibly easy to distrust all the characters and be completely suspicious of their motives. One of the things I love most about an unreliable narrator is the distrust is automatically there but also that tiny bit of doubt that maybe they are telling the truth.

Everything about this story had me flying through the pages. The characters, the setting, the motivations and all the references to famous writers and the callbacks to his previous books.

Thank you @celadonbooks and @macmillanusa for this gifted ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

This is an interesting thriller that takes place mostly  on a private island with the narrator Elliot and his theater friends. The narrator is a very unreliable and it’s one of those books where the narrator talks directly to the reader. So Eliot’s friend Lana has been murdered and so this book is not only a murder mystery but a why did they do it mystery. The narrator is all over the place and goes back and forth to the past and present timelines. It was so jarring at times to have the narrator speaking directly to me and felt like a monologue but it all came together. I will say with this book you need to trust the process because the first act is very slow but it picks up during the second act. The last couple of acts were totally crazy and was twist after twist. There’s drama and all the characters definitely put on a show. Overall once I finished the book it all made sense and I thought it was a good thriller.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc for an honest review.

A mystery with an addictive premise told in a fascinating way.

Elliot Chase has a story to tell you. He wants to tell you of a murder and the events that led up to this murder. 7 people on an island. Betrayal. Heartbreak. Twisty.

Okay. So I was bored for like 50-60% of this book. Which makes me so upset, because I absolutely LOVED The Silent Patient.  I was hooked on the first couple of chapters, especially with the way this was written, but then it just died. The story felt more focused on minute details of things that didn't end up having a part in the overall story. There were a lot of characters that made no sense and just ended up making everything more confusing.

However, there were definitely a few twists and turns and I really liked those. Some I saw coming and some I didn't. The setting for this is one of my favorites: seclusion. I just felt like there was so much more that could have been done. This, for me, was less of a thriller and more of a mystery. I wish there was more suspense.

Thank you to Celadon Books for an ARC of this story! All Opinions are my own!!!
