This took a long while to finish, and I'm defiantly gonna have to re-read this some time.

I liked it. Her characters were good and well developed, but the pacing could’ve been better

I genuinely feel I have no idea what is happening in Jane Austen books half the time but when I just go along for the ride turns out I usually do. I enjoyed this one a lot and I believe the infuriating parts were part of the comedy but I did frustrate me a bit. I also didn't die in love with the romance compared to P&P (sorry to be so boring) however I did enjoy it.

This kind of compared with the humour of Agatha Christie for me which I loved. So many stereotypical archetypes cranked up a notch with great writing is my favourite thing in books.

3.65 stars.

I enjoyed this quirky, romantic, funny classic, however not as much as I adored Pride and Prejudice. I'm yet to read all of Jane Austen's books, but I suspect there'll be no beating P&P.

The centre third of Emma dragged a little for me. There was a lot of dialogue, and exchanges on otherwise mundane details of life - which very much encapsulates the era for those who are historically curious, but which made the book slow for me. The fact that Emma was frequently unlikable was not a huge issue for me, as I knew, inevitably, there would be a redemption arc.

I came to read this after watching the 2020 film adaptation, which I loved, and was sad to see that the scene in which Emma walks to the Martin's farm to convince Robert to re-propose to Harriet, was not in the actual book. I thought this was a very redeeming quality, and I love the film for including it.
