One of the most phenomenal works of fiction I have ever enjoyed. Every piece of writing I've consumed by Diana has been a new literary adventure that I can't stop thinking about and talking about for weeks and weeks on end.
If you are weird and love absurd plots, relatable characters, familiar histories, myths, intergalactic mutant tyrant's, dragons and magic. Then this book is for you.

I'll keep this short: Fantastical ideas packed in tight and stacked one atop the other, only let down by solid but not terribly exciting characters and so-so plotting that has you more interested in what is going on rather than what is going to happen. If Philip K. Dick wrote a dense and semi lighthearted YA book it'd look like this.

A very well-crafted science fantasy with fun nods to Arthurian and Norse legend. The time fuzziness, memory nonsense, and reality shifting were fun but got very confusing so there was a lot of flipping back and forth, so it's almost certainly the type of book that continues to improve upon multiple reads.

I have heard such wonderful things about DWJ's writing and Howl's Moving Castle that I was excited when this was picked for a group read.  I was willing to go along for the first couple of parts, but the lack of structure and gaping plot holes that are just brushed aside remind me of an amateur being turned loose in the Doctor Who writers' room. I checked some reviews and realized that you either look past all of this to finish or you end up with a read that never really had a chance of making any sense. An online book ad called my name and I promptly put this down.

THAT...That was almost exactly like the feeling I would expect of a modernized version of Heinlein's "Glory Road" mixed with a time machine, an eggbeater, an unreliable narrator, and lot and LOTS of controlled hallucinogenic substances. Bravo.
