the positive:
- fun and rather quick read
- in the first third of the book a lot of characters are introduced, but they all have reappearances trough the story, which was nice (didn't feel like u spent effort remembering names of side characters that never appear again and were never relevant)
- Zaluna and Skelly are great and interesting characters
- Hera is absolute awesome (maybe almost a little too perfect, but that’s okey, I love her)
- many strong female main/side characters
- we got more of Kanan's backstory and how he managed after Order 66
- Kanan being absolutely smitten by Hera was very entertaining to read
- some of the deaths really hit hard
the negative:
- the POV changes are a bit confusing in the beginning
- the villain is very menacing, but not that interesting/remarkable
- sometimes the plot felt a bit aimless
- the book is more about Kanan than Hera (50/50 would have been nice)
- the lack of Chopper

This was one of my all time favorite Star Wars books ever. I adore Kanan and Hera and getting to read a book about how they first meet was amazing.
I loved getting to see where Kanan started from and seeing how he grew in this book and then knowing how he turns out in Rebels. It was just so satisfying. And while we didn't get a lot of POV from Hera, I thought it worked really well for the story, especially since we were seeing it mainly from Kanan's POV.
I also really liked the new characters and what they added to the story. The villain was pure evil. There was nothing to like about him.
Great job to the author. I only wish we could have one more story about them before the start of Rebels.
