Poppy and Hawk/Castiel are absolute enemies to lovers perfection in this second installment in the Blood and Ash series.

We pick up right where we left off in the first book. The Dark Prince and The Maiden on the run from the Asteri.

Kerian is by far my favorite character in the series thus far and I love being able to learn more about him and the connection he has to The Dark One. As well as learning his past and meeting his family.

The banter between Poppy and Hawk is perfection and his sadistic like of her stabbing him is definitely kind of hot.

The banter and friendship built between Kerian and Poppy is some of the best character growth in the series.

Watching these characters grow and learn about themselves and each other is definitely an added bonus to this book.

I like book 2 even more than I liked book 1 and now can’t wait to move into book 3.

this book made me want to scream!!!!! there was an element of fake dating/arranged marriage. took a long time for there to be some REAL spicy scenes but once we got there, it was a LOT.
the fact that it took about 80% of the book being over for Casteel and Poppy to FINALLY admit they were head over heels for each other made me want to tear my hair out!!!!!!!!!! also, that scene towards the end of the battle of spessa’s end when casteel and poppy just decided to smash in the carriage while people battled around them… insane ! are you not embarrassed????? felt like it was trying to out-weird that one scene in ACOWAR with the sounds of the dying…. iykyk

overall i enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who liked to read amateur werewolf/vampire romances on wattpad. you know the ones… with the borderline psychotic relationships that were okay because they were destined to be together.

Entertaining. The plot is really good and the action and violence was intense.

I like how many different characters there were and I easily began to find favorites among them. I look forward to the next novel.

this book was amazing. it’s one of those books i know is gonna stick with me for a long and i’ll be rereading again and again. i love the mystery behind everything and how well the author sets up the plot twists with foreshadowing, even if some of the them are a bit predictable, it’s so well written and entertaining that it doesn’t really matter.
i loved how it took a lot of time for poppy and casteel’s relationship to develop, and there wasn’t just immediate trust and forgiveness after the betrayal, that they both had to work for it and prove themselves to one another.
the battle scene was also extremely well written, i just enjoyed everything about this book.

there were like two (??) major plot points in this whole book? like literally nothing happened? but here i am, giving it all these stars, bc the characters have me in a chokehold. it didn't even bother me that every time poppycas bantered, there was a variation of poppy saying "you're disturbed" and cas responding with "you like it." and really, there's only so many times that cas can tell her that her being violent turns him on... and yet HERE I AM

Like the first one, this book is just okay for me. I'm still not as into the series as many other people seem to be and I am still grossed out by Cas's manipulations and abuse of Poppy even though the author tries hard to redeem him in this book. It also isn't anything too unique - we've seen this story with pretty much these exact characters done over and over again. Also this one is slow, slow burn. The characters don't start being honest with each other until nearly page 500.
