I'm starting to like Adrian. First of all, he's only one who isn't completely oblivious to Rose's attraction towards Dimitri. He's shameless flirt, something that's always fun to read. And he's giving drunk Nikolai Lantsov vibe.
He knows that Rose doesn't feel the same, and yet he still gives her everything in his power to make her come back to him. Honestly, he only has himself to blame. Yes, Rose played him but he knew it all along and let her.
I love Victor, he just causes drama for the thrill of it.
It wouldn't be YA sex scene without cleaning wounds, fighting, dramatic proclamation of love followed by some very vague and metaphorical description. And of course, it's happening in some random cabin in the woods. I enjoyed every single moment of it.
I like that Rose went to therapy, even tho in the end her problems weren't exactly psychological, it's still nice change. And it did help her on some level, mostly to see beyong her mantra "they come first"
The ending
"I set off, off to kill the man I loved"
The best last line. I love the last scene, her fight with Lissa and how she finally realised she needs to put herself first.
I can't wait for Strigoi Dimitri. They even said famous last words we're going to make this work. Everything else that happened after it was on them.
The fight sequence was great, tense. And poor Eddie, why he always has to suffer?
REREAD
From this book onwards, I don't accept any criticism. They all have their flaws, like everything else really. But it's really fun and addictive, and great example of good character development.
That being said, Rose repeats herself a lot, especially about how vampires work and the Spirit, but I don't mind it. I can be extremely forgetful about those things, especially when I'm concentrated on only one part of the story (Roza/Dimitri interactions).
I just love that she sometimes fully knows how stupid and bitchy she sounds and just continues to do it.
