Julia Whelan is the queen of narration for a reason and her own books really highlight that - the range she has is such a joy to listen to

I really enjoyed this story, I flew through the majority of it, there was a long period where I wasn't sure if we'd get a happy ending and I was going to riot, but we got there in the end even if it was painful at times

- student X teacher (kinda)
- we had a one night stand and don't want a relationship but I think we should keep doing this

I love Julia’s narration and really enjoyed Thank You for Listening. This book was well done. I’m personally not into major medical problems as the focus of romance books (I’d say this barely qualifies as romance if you’re looking for the standard beats, banters, and tropes). Not necessarily a bad thing, just a flag if you’re looking to escape into something light and swoony this isn’t it.

I expected to like this as much as "Thank You For Listening," but was really disappointed. It's well written and I think good for fans of Jojo Moyes (like the description states). I'm just not one of those fans.

I liked the first half of the book, but once the twist came about I knew what was going to happen (and I was right). I felt like there was almost too much going on at times, but not enough explanation of anything. Her campaign work was interesting, but not explained. Her time at Oxford was also interesting, but it's as if she went to a class once and then never again.

I also found myself not caring about any of the characters as the story went on. Ella didn't have much of a personality. Jamie's personality seemed to only be "rich, posh, and
Spoilerdying
" Even the side characters could have been fleshed out more.

Julia's narration, as always, gets 5 stars. She's an amazing narrator and I love listening to her books. Unfortunately, the story itself here was lacking for me.

I loved this book.  Julia Whelan is one of my favorite narrators, and I also like her writing.  The beginning of the book seemed like a typical romance, but it had so much more than that.  It was a delightful "listen."

A romance more along the lines of "Me Before You" than the lighthearted rom-com I expected.

It was entertaining and at different times funny, sad and reflective but I felt it lacked a bit of depth overall and the ending didn't satisfy.

This book surprised me by switching halfway through from a comedy about an American’s adventures in Oxford to a romantic tragedy. I loved it, I loved the couple and the friends, I burst out laughing and their very literary conversations and cried through the confessions. I highly recommend this book.
