Couldn’t get into it. Seemed like annoying love story and does the author even know anything about being an ad executive in the city?

I cried. Wow. This was an amazing book, really. Love and first love and regret and forgiveness and God.

This book brings abortion into an anyone, anytime setting. It allows the reader to see the repercussions so much more vividly than any public discussion would divulge. Very poignant story of love, regret, loss, and forgiveness.

Shades of Blue by Karen Kingsbury
Brad Culler has it all, a fairytale life ahead of him. but the ad campaign he hopes to win for the company sets him to his past.
He recalls his past and thinks of Holden Beach, NC and know he needs to talk to Emma Landon before his life can go forward.
He is to be married as the days get closer to his life with Lauren James.
He has much faith in God in helping direct him to do the right thing.
The story also follows Emma and her daughter, now 9 year old as she is the teacher.
Frankie is a girl that she teaches that has a rare blood disease and she tolerates the pain it causes.
Lots of scriptures that lead to the answers they need.
Love how the book got it's title.

This is my second Christian fiction book that I have read and compared with my first, which I can't remember the title, this was sub par. The depiction of the feelings that Emma and Brad went through were very clear and realistic to me, but the rest of the story felt too contrived, like Laura's book group friends and how quickly Emma's love interest faded in the background for a long time. Also, the author used too much scripture and religious meaning that felt too forceful about trying to convey the moral of the story, that it made the book boring and cheesy.

Great book! So glad I got it from the library (yet had to wait a bit for one to become available).
I think I will be looking into more of Kingsbury's books to read.
The story was a quick read, and I enjoyed the Christian standpoint. Some references to the bible made me want to go run and get my bible out too.
The story revolves around Brad with a past that he has kept hidden from his fiance (very soon to be wife) Laura. Also the story involves Emma a teacher (love it!) who shared a past with Brad.
The story focuses on the affects Abortion can have on not only a woman but a man and the struggles each can have.
I would recommend this book to any of my Christian readers.

I'm a huge KK fan and a huge advocate for the pro-life moment. I volunteer at a Christian pregnancy center, but this book fell flat for me. It was a little predictable and kind of repetitive. It was decent, but definitely not one of the better KK books. Some of it was just a little cliché.

I don't know what it is, but her books ALWAYS make me cry. The material is beautifully written and the characters are completely believable. It deals with difficult Christian issues: forgiveness, repentance, finding peace with God, and abortion. These were all illustrated tastefully and in an excellent manner. Definitely one of the best novels I've read from her (I prefer her stand alone titles to her series anyways!)
