The narration was amazing. That is about all I enjoyed. I understand it can be difficult to translate a graphic novel into an audiobook, but i found the netflix show adaptation much more entertaining. Some of the subplots were very boring and there was a lot of abuse conveyed on women that I felt was over the top and added for no apparent reason.
Graphic: Child abuse, Murder, Sexual violence, and Gore
Moderate: Body horror, Rape, and Sexual content

Creating an audiobook for a graphic novel is an interesting concept. Overall I thought it was successful & quite entertaining. James McAvoy was brilliant as the Sandman, Neil Gaiman was his amazing self as a narrator, and Kat Dennings portrayed a very sympathetic Death. However, a couple of the voice actors were a little over the top for my taste, and some of the background sound effects were irritating. (I don't care to listen to people slurping drinks and eating with their mouths open, for example.) That kept it from being 5 stars for me.

I must say that I was disappointed by this. At first I thought it was just because horror isn't normally a genre I read, but it was Neil Gaiman so I gave it a chance. However the further I got into it the more I just found it boring. At some points the layout was hard to follow, and if I am completely honestly I thought some points were just not that great in terms of writing.

I find it most difficult to rate this. I kept wondering whether the story is odd or whether I am simply not used to comics/GNs and didn't quite get the story. The beginning was confusing me, I'm still not entirely sure I got the story but I guess I'll go on reading a few more volumes and make a decision then.
Update after a first re-read: Liked it much more than the first time around!
