I genuinely don’t understand half of what Plath is saying and i consider myself to be a somewhat smart person. I see her genius in her letters and prose but once i get to her poetry all depth, meaning and coherency is lost on me. This is ironic, considering she’s known for being a poet but try as I might i don’t really see the value in her poetry. Maybe it was revolutionary in her time considering its themes of mental health and femininity but it gets lost in translation today.

Reading this along with an in-depth analysis open on another screen was a beautiful experience. I'm new to poetry, but this spoke to my mind.

Personal favorites are Lady Lazarus, Tulips, and Daddy

Sylvia Plath is a genius, but I think I will need to pick this up another time. I feel like I tend to do better with poetry when I dissect it with others, so this read wasn’t exactly the best experience for me. Definitely will read again at some point, and with more gumption!
