This entire series is part of the Audible Escape package so I figured I'd give it a try. Free is good! It was a quick, enjoyable listen. Sort of a trashy beach read kind of a book...
I liked it well enough to move on to the next one in the series.

I have yet to come across a Laura Kaye book that I didn't like. ^.^ Dare to Resist is the prequel novella to the Wedding Dare series from Entangled Brazen. I had already read the last book in the series, Best Man with Benefits by Samanthe Beck, as an ARC for review, so I pretty much had an idea what happens to the two lead characters in this prequel. Still, I was glad to finally learn the story before the events of the four other books. ^.^
Kady Dresco and Colton Brooks have known each other for years. Kady is the younger sister of Colton's best friend and has always nursed a crush for him. Things come to a head three years prior to the events in this book and their relationship has been tense and awkward since then. When nature forces them together for one night, they're finally forced to choose between ignoring what's going on between them or doing something about it.
I loved the friction and tension between Kady and Colton. Kady wasn't some helpless heroine and Colton wasn't some cookie-cutter Mr. Nice Guy. These two knew how to push each other's buttons and I guess you could say it was some weird form of foreplay on their part. Hahaha.
If it's one thing that Laura Kaye has proven yet again with this novella, it's that she's more than capable of weaving a worthwhile story into a limited number of pages. I seriously need to start reading her much longer novels. ^.^
Dare to Resist gets 4.5 stars out of five, rounding that rating off to five stars (because Goodreads doesn't believe in halfsies). ♥

LK does it again! Hot, steamy, and dead point on sexy! This woman seriously knows how to write! She's the master of the novella! A lot of novellas leave you with a lackluster taste in your mouth and leave you wanting more. The something that is missing. That doesn't happen with a LK novella or even a full length novel. She'll most likely leave you panting wanting to know more about the couple's HEA, but never leaves you wondering if everything was covered. The sexual tension and chemistry are paced perfectly. Laura Kaye has solidified herself as a permanent favorite it my book.

I love Laura Kaye, which is why I bought this book and as usual, she did not disappoint. I loved the banter and teasing between Kady and Colton and even though they have a history with their encounter 3 years prior, they are still friends and it’s natural between them. They were both secretly attracted to each other but they still acted like mature adults.
I loved Colton’s surprise when he finds Kady’s erotic romance novel and realizes that she might actually be good for him. I also liked that he realized he wanted something more before he got involved instead of just jumping right in without any care about how it would affect Kady. Also Colton was just really sweet with Kady, especially in the end. I adored the ending! I liked Kady’s sass and her tough nature and I loved that Colton recognized how awesome Kady was as a person and as a computer programmer.
This was just a novella so page time is limited, but I would have loved to see an interaction between Colton, Tyler, and Kady. After all, one of the reasons that Colton backed away from Kady was because she was his best friend’s little sister.

Something just didn’t quite work for me with this one. It felt a bit forced. The characters didn’t feel authentic. I didn’t connect with either of them. Not to mention the audiobook narrator sounded like my grandma. Not sexy at all.

I'll be honest, when I found out that Laura Kaye was releasing an Entangled Brazen book about my favorite trope (brother's best friend and little sister) I didn't even need to read the blurb to know that this story was a must read. I loved the cover, I am a huge fan of Laura Kaye, and with this trope I knew this one was going to be amazing. This novella was so good, and after reading I found out that this is actually the start of something really cool. Colton and Kady were amazing. I loved both of them so much, and they were absolutely perfect for each other. Colton is strong and sexy, and also really smart. He is good with computers and runs his own successful business, but he is also completely built being former military as well. He was dominant and had been scared to pursue anything with Kady because of his darker desires as well as her being Tyler's little sister. He never imagined that she could crave the same things that he did. Kady was smart and sassy, and I loved that she worked so hard to be successful. She was determined, and didn't take crap from anyone. I loved how playful and witty she was with Colton, and even though they would snipe at each other you could tell it was because they both had feelings for each other. They were so much fun, and had a great connection on all levels. They were also smoking hot together and had some seriously strong chemistry between them. Once they finally went there with each other, these two were super intense and generated serious amounts of steam.
Overall, these two were fantastic and I loved seeing them take their feelings and lay everything out there. I was so glad to see them finally be open with each other, and find out how right they were together. Kady and Colton connected on every level, and they just clicked perfectly. My one complaint with this novella, and the reason for my rating being a 4 rather than a 5, is that I felt like they should have had another or chapter or two to their story. I know that the end of their story is the wedding that will take place in the next four books, but I just felt like we are missing the portion of where the novella ends and their wedding. I really wanted to see what happens in the middle, and how they get to the wedding. I still really loved Dare to Resist though, and I am so excited to see how the rest of this series plays out. I am really looking forward to seeing where Tessa Bailey, Diane Alberts, Katee Robert, and Samanthe Beck take Kady and Colton's friends and family. I think that this series is bound to be amazing with all these great authors writing the stories, and June cannot get her fast enough! I highly recommend this novella, especially if you are a fan of sexy stories that will leave you wanting more.

What a ride, this short novel got me on the edge the whole time. Laura Kaye writes in a way you just have to keep on reading till the very end.
I loved Kady's character, she is a strong determined woman who just loves computers. Now get into the picture a former military Colton Brooks, who is now the CEO of his own security systems company, and also Kady's brother best friend, get them together in one motel room for a night and what you get is just sparks, sexual tension building until it explodes.
