What I love most about Emily Henry books is how alive all the characters feel. We get to know them so well and they jump off the page at you. This setting is not like anywhere I have ever been but I could picture it perfectly. I could feel the love between the characters and feel the heartaches.  The issues all of the characters are facing are so real they hurt to read.
It was predictable but I didn’t even care, I loved this book so much.

i was definitely in the mood for this book, plus i tend to love a breakup-makeup storyline, so this was a very enjoyable read for me.

other reviews have definitely put into perspective some of what was lacking for me -- i loved the friend group in this, but felt like a lot of the side characters had more substance in flashbacks as opposed to the present. i was really drawn into the little bits of their present day lives and how they had their own struggles, and wished there was more development in that by the end, as opposed to a generic wrap up. the moment when harriet went to sit with parth and he told her she was family took me a little aback, because i hadn't really felt the development of their relationship compared to the others at all, even though it was a sweet sentiment. and through the Plot Twist, it was pointed out how harriet and sabrina had barely had anytime alone together to catch up and i was bummed that we didn't really see that resolve on the page by the end. i liked the group as an ensemble though.

the feelings, though, those kept me going. EH's writing just drew me in with her descriptive writing. i was so into harriet and wyn's love, even if harriet constantly being overwhelmed by wyn everytime he was near was a liiiittle over the top -- i was all there for it! they were obsessed with each other and it was great. i was waiting for a miscommunication shoe to drop for me though, one that went isn't this a little much? couldn't y'all have just talked about it? but i guess i relate a little too hard to Not Talking About It, so it was a fine balance for me. i was also so delighted whenever wyn showed up exactly when harriet was thinking of him, who cares if it was realistic/practical or not!

i'm not sure if i'll reread it, but i'm glad i read at all.

EMILY HENRY THE WOMAN YOU ARE!

she did it again folks! I feel like she probably lives under my bed or something because she has to be writing these books for me.... I'm so in love with this book and ALL the characters in it. I loved all the relationships and these friendships are everything to me 😭 I need friends like this, real life friends that genuinely feel like my happy place 😭

as usual with an Emily Henry book, I smiled, laughed and cried so much. (I'm literally wiping a tear off my eyes, as I'm writing this.)

I relate to both Harriet and Wyn and I genuinely don't know how Emily Henry does it but she makes me relate to every single one of her main characters in some way....

I just loved this so much and I read this at the right time in my life.

this is one of my favourite romance books ever (as are all of her books tbh).

and lastly, I'm still pretty sure I saw a Gus and January reference.....

This is a second chance romance that could have been wrapped up way sooner if they had just talked to each other. Initially I found this too sad to finish, but picked it up again for bookclub and found it easier to get through once I was past the beginning. Not my favorite of Henry's books, but I wish I had a vacation home to visit like that!

I enjoyed this book but a lot of things prickled me. Some of the characters were a bit too self absorbed. Sabrina is a queen and I wish I had a friend like her. They are all far too unappreciative!

Some of it felt a bit too real to be comfortable, like Harriet's family, that hit a nerve.

Overall I feel the book was slightly immature but well written enough that I stayed with it.

Didn't need the surprise pregnancy though, that was very unnecessary... not all happy endings have to have a baby.

I love the banter and tension!! The chemistry between Wyn and Harriet was 🥵

I related to both Wyn and Harriet a lot of times! I loved all the characters, getting to know them and watch them grow through the novel. I laughed, smiled, and cried but I think this is the first of Henry’s (so far) that’ll be rated under 5 stars 🙊

Around the 230 page mark I was so sick of the lack of communication!! This is essentially down to miscommunication being a main plot pointm, which I didn’t mind at first but eventually got so annoyed about it 😭

You’re in your 30s and had been together for nearly a decade!!!! YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TALK FOR 5 MINUTES AND HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS?! I understood to an extent given their characters backgrounds but still if you’re dating and ENGAGED to someone for that long, you should be able to communicate and share your feelings and if you can’t then maybe you shouldn’t be together 😫

By the end, I kind of understood the miscommunication, given the background and character traits of both Harriet and Wyn. Also I think it frustrated me so much because I recognized myself and my past issues in their issues. I also liked the author reader guide to explain the choices because then it made more sense but I was still annoyed and think it went on longer than it should’ve.

I didn’t cry at the end like I normally do, I still marked a lot of passages and loved the characters but I didn’t have the same emotions quite like the other books I’ve read so far 😞 It was fun and easy to read with top tier banter as always but because of the miscommunication (that lasted waaay too long) it’s going to rank last for now.
