**I got this book in exchange for an honest review**

I really did enjoy this book, it was the kind of book that made me go crazy- in a good way- trying to figure out who the main character should be with and in the end the obvious choice was made but there’s still a lot left open which will hopefully be explored in book 2.

The main characters are a family of twin sisters and a brother, Rebecca and Savannah and Hunter. Rebecca is really the main focus of this book 1 in the series however Savannah and Hunter do have chapters dedicated to their story and point of view. I liked Rebecca as a character; she was very real and easy to understand, although she did face one of the issues faced by most of two boys liking her and she kind of almost resorted to the whole whiney girl approach- this was lessened by the other things going on around her and her new life. I really couldn’t decide which of the two options was the best for her which I found very refreshing. I also liked that the alpha in her mind was not only a guiding figure but an independent character in itself.

The secondary characters include Savannah, Hunter, Lucky and Gabrielle as well as many others. Savannah is Rebecca’s twin sister and is completely different to her, I like that Rebecca is desperate for Savannah not to be included in the world she has entered. Hunter is also someone Rebecca wants to protect, he is her little brother who is strong and independent in his own way. Lucky and Gabrielle are Rebecca’s two love interest, they offer the story its main complication and help the story progress.

The pacing was slightly off as I felt there was a lot pushed in quite messily into the last few chapters but it did not retract from the reading experience. I would normally have preferred if there was a bit more of the background story about Rebecca’s parents being offered throughout the book and not just in the last chapter. However I hope to get more of this information in book 2 as well as news on Rebecca’s love life. In affect the pacing of this book was a great book to introduce the characters but I feel book 2 will really be the one to go into detail on the story line.

The story line as said before was largely based on Rebecca and getting to know the family the series is going to be based around. I liked that this book is offering a solid foundation that will help the other books in the series move forward.

I loved this book. 3.5 stars.

Who doesn't love a good werewolf story?

Though young adult isn't one of my favorite genre's, I still can't bring myself to turn away from a good 'ol werewolf. And I'm sure glad I didn't!

Lone Wolf Rising covered basically all the essential of the other paranormal's with vampires and witches too. It had ample attraction, mystery, suspense, and one hell-of-a cliffhanger!

Oh and I just really adored the split love interest too. Made for a fantastic twist!

I read quite of paranormal genre books, not so often I read YA, but this one captivate me from the beginning. The strength in Rebecca choosing to be a wolf, her determination to know the truth about her parents death, and the added difficulty of two suitors trying to get to her heart, is refreshing and sticks to the story.
Rebecca, 17 years old, recently became a wolf and discovered that her pack has been annihilated. Lucky, a protector that make her legs wobble, a grandmother witch, vampires, dream walkers, trolls and Gabriel, who is convinced she is his mate, the Authority... all a new world of supernatural beings and responsibilities, that could bring death or war if she mistakes a decision. And all wrap up with an alpha wolf with a strong conscience deep inside her mind, who sometimes makes her nuts, but usually has it right. All ingredients for an excellent series. I only hope she choses right... in life and in love.

I just finished reading Lone Wolf Rising. It is a paranormal romance written by Jami Brumfield. Struggling to find closure to her parents’ murder, Rebecca decides to join a werewolf pack. Something happens, and she’s left with many difficult decisions. Will she be able to find out who killed her parents? Will she be able to make the transformation without any difficulties? Can she accept the new changes and adapt to her new life?

This was an amazing read! I think this will become one of those books I read over and over again. I loved it! I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of this series! The author has a very unique way of taking a very popular genre and giving it her own personal twist. I think that’s what I liked best about it. I also loved how easily relatable the characters were.

There wasn’t really much that I didn’t like about this book! I feel like there were certain things, events, and people that could have been discussed in more detail. However, I get why they weren’t. They weren’t exactly important pieces of the story. That’s the only real problem I saw with the book. It was amazingly written and amazingly detailed. This book is easy to get lost in.

I fully recommend this book! Especially if you love paranormal romances. I was hooked from page one. I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to enjoy this book. I hope that others get as much enjoyment out of the book as I did.

This book begins when Rebecca does something that will change her life forever. She is now a werewolf, but she never would have guessed she was more then that before all of this happened. She's on a quest to find her parents killers, but what she will uncover is a whole lot more than she was expecting. Along the way she meets two guys she can't seem to stay away from, but she also can't seem to decide which one is for her. Then her family is in danger, and she must fight to protect them.

Lone Wolf Rising was okay. I liked the story line for the most part, although it got annoying at times. I still enjoyed it. But I just didn't like Rebecca. I felt like she was a winy brat, and that just frustrated me. I was expecting more from her I guess. I did like the other two heros in the story though, and I did like Rebecca's sister as well.
Over all this one was okay, and a nice paranormal read to pass the time with.

*I received a free copy of this book to read and review*

There are three criteria by which I judge a book: writing quality, story line/plot, and character voice. Lone Wolf Rising delivers in all three.

Writing quality (4 stars): Brumfield is a strong writer. Even though this is all I have read by her, I have a feeling that if she were to write an instruction manual, I still be drawn in to read it front to back. That said, however, this book could use another edit. I discovered many typos while just casually reading (I probably would have found more if I were looking): "form" instead of "from", "I" instead of "It", an entire word missing in a sentence, two periods at the end of a sentence, etc. I also noticed a few repetitive parts that could be condensed (*Small Spoiler* for example, it is mentioned 3 or 4 times in one chapter that Lucky and Rebecca drove home alone because Hunter and Savvy had a late practice after school; once would have sufficed). These are minor things, but the mistakes do take the reader out of the story and can be easily fixed.

Story (3 stars): Ok, I was actually incredibly drawn into the story and stayed up late last night finishing the book because I could not put it down. Why only 3 stars then? You ask. There were just too many similarities with the Mortal Instruments series. I'll admit that I have not read many paranormal teen romance books, so I'm not sure what is derivative from The Mortal Instruments series and what is just a trope or archetype of the genre, but it was too close for my comfort. However, Lone Wolf Rising is unique enough to be enjoyable, especially if you like the genre.

Character voice (5 stars): When I am reading a book, I want to be able to tell the difference between the characters by just reading the dialogue and description of the action, especially when chapters are going to be from different perspectives, like in this book. One of the biggest failures of Allegiant was that Roth only wrote in one voice; every character was the same in my head. Brumfield, however, gave each of her characters unique personalities. Without having to go back to the beginning of the chapter, I was able to tell whose point of view each chapter was from, and I knew when Rebecca was having a conversation with Lucky, or Gabriel, or Jackson, without having to read the indications of who was speaking.

Bottom line: I recommend giving the series a try. I'm going to get the next book in the series myself.

This is a good send off to a great series. Excellent read.

This book was great! There may be a glut of vampire/werewolf books, but this one is definitely worth reading. The supernatural beings are more in tune with the traditional aspect of their characteristics. No sparkly vampires. The writing was polished, with some minor errors, but as a writer myself, I know how difficult it is to catch them all. "Lone Wolf Rising" at times reminded me of Sherrilyn Kenyon's paranormal stories, except Jami Brumfield's has more depth to the story, and fortunately lacks the eroticism. The story is long, but I hardly noticed as I kept reading through to the end, only having to take a break to sleep. I highly recommend this. I've already downloaded the continuation of the story.
