Self-proclaimed "hot mess" Beth is house and dog sitting(the best dog, Jake) in Oregon when she invites herself over to her neighbor, Mike's house. After a night of drinking and more choice decisions by Beth, they stumble upon a strange meteor shower. When the meteors start hatching terror ensues. This has a very lovecraftian feel.

Complete mayhem! My adrenaline and anxiety was constantly boiling from how action packed this was. Loved every minute of it.

TW:
This was like a really bad straight to DVD horror movie, only you didn't even get the entertainment of watching the idiot protagonists die in gruesome ways.
I can go on for a while about why this book is bad, both due to the characters and character actions and due to the quality of writing, but it would take up time I rather use on something else. Don't be like me and think this is worth checking out. Don't waste your time that is better spent on doing something else.
Before I rage quit on this, does the author own a dog or any sort of animal? I almost feel like someone should check up on its well-being considering what level of concern the protagonists showed to the dog in the book.

This book was awesome! It had a very Bird Box meets Some Quiet Place feel to it, but was wholly unique and stands out on its own. I'm honestly shocked that the ratings for this book are so low. For once I was the black sheep in a good way!
My main complaint is that I didn't connect to the characters like I'd hoped to. The only one I really cared about was the dog, Jake.
Spoiler
And even when he died, I didn't cry, which is really shocking for me. Usually the animal deaths leave me sobbing. I guess because we never SEE him die, it's just assumed. Booo. The driving point of this book for me was definitely the creepy monsters! I like that in the beginning we know next to nothing about them. I think it's that air of mystery that gave me the Bird Box vibes. There's just something terrifying about an unknown monster killing people, especially when it's anĀ invisible unknown monster. This book brought the thrills and spine chills, and I loved that about it. I also loved that it's delightfully gory!
