The title is a bit misleading. This is not a book on Zen, and it is not a manual on writing or, as the subtext states, "releasing the creative genius within you."
It is a collection of essays, among which the eponymous essay is the only one that provides practical advice on writing. Don't read this book as a how-to guide; read it instead as a collection of the author's remarkably lucid and passionate thoughts on the nature of writing, on creativity, on the imagination.
Read this book for inspiration and insight. Bradbury's love of writing is inseparable from his love of life, a "zest for living," says Bradbury, without which a writer is "only half a writer." It is a contagious attitude.

Absolutely amazing. Bradbury and his love of the craft make all the essays here delightful and enlightening reads. So glad I got around to reading this!

Not really a book about writing, although there is some solid advice scattered about - more a book about why to write.

I wanted to like this, but I really didn't get much from it. Maybe it's better for fiction writers, and for fans of Bradbury's fiction.

His writing hooks you before you are aware that there was even a hook. Before you know it, 10 pages have been read and all you want is more. If writing from your heart does this; then heed his words of advice he knows what he is talking about and has eloquently said so in this wonderful read.

For such a short book, and despite really wanting to like it, I really struggled to stick with this book long enough to finish it.
