I received this book through Goodreads First Reads Giveaways.
I loved this book! I loved the angst and I loved Cole. Cole made this book for me. Cole and Katie together is perfect. I was glad the author didn't just have them fall in love at the first glance but it was a progression. Poor Katie, I could put myself in her shoes and understand how scary and brave it was for her to let her guard down and trust another man again. This is not be my last Melynda Price book.

I wanted to like this book but just could not get into it. There were pieces of the story that were interesting but for the most part, it was corny and predictable.

I hated how Katie never told her parents what were going on even after the person who is stalking her and trying to kill her are in her parents house! What kind of person would do that?! I feel like if I was tortured and stalked, I would definitely take complete different actions then she did. I felt like I was watching one of those movie where you are yelling at the main character to stop being such an idiot. Also, I am not sure why she kept referring to herself as her 'inner goddess'. I found that really weird.

I liked the MMA action and what he went through in a fight along with his training. I was glad that in the end, he was able to return to fighting even after he was so broken by degrasse but honestly, that is all I actually liked in the story.

Being as I am a big fan of MMA/boxing books, this book for sure was a keeper in my mind. Kat's horrible past makes you feel for her and Cole's struggle brings them together. You can't help but hope for a happy ending for both of them. It was very easy to become consumed with this book and I found it very hard to put down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I hope the author writes more books like this. *ARC complements of the pulbisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this book. The characters were great and the story was enjoyable. Can't think of any cons to say about it.

Missing information and undeveloped plotlines

This book was kind of unsatisfying. Katie and Cole were pretty decent characters. They were both fairly likeable. They both reacted in somewhat rational ways given their personalities. Never did I get frustrated with their actions. The plot was good. My problems came with the writing style of the author. I questioned the use of some words, like technical words for muscles when describing how food looking Cole was. Or the 25 pages of an intimate, sexual situation, and then they don't even finish. Or the fact that Cole, miraculously in 2 weeks goes from wheelchair bound,to crtuches, to walking, and finally beating somebody up. Or how the plot would build to a crescendo, then change POV and start all over. It was frustrating because I had to read several more pages to get to a resolution. I had some unanswered questions in the end. The trainer Marcus was supposed to pay Katie $30K. It was taken from Cole's account, but Katie never got it, was never paid. So what happened to the money. Second, no detailed were ever given about the accusations against Cole in the beginning, about steroids and abuse. It is mentioned in passing, but never brought up again. In fact neither had their pasts explored, other than Katie's abusive ex. We know virtually nothing about Cole. Not about his implied rough childhood, his past, his parents, how he got into fighting. Nothing. It's kind of frustrating. I think this may have made the story a more interesting read.

I don't often read MMA romances, but I came across this one and really enjoyed it. Some of the language turned me off a bit and it was a touch in the way of predictable, but I'm going to keep reading the series.

Stupid heroine. Stupid story. The very beginning of the book, the woman, a physical therapist, shows up at the airport, in the middle of snowy winter, to pick up the wheel chair bound Hero and his luggage in THREE INCH SPIKED BOOTS. The heroine and the story just got more stupid the more I read. Now the Hero was intelligent and had a ton of common sense, but he couldn't make up for the TSTL heroine. DNF @ 37%. Skipping this author.

The Hero came to stay with the heroine at her house for long term PT and she couldn't even stock the refrigerator. Forget getting a copy of his medical and therapy records.
