Really 4,5 stars.
Brielle is a character that I liked very much and she has given me a lot of tenderness. The situation is very difficult for her.
While I understand why her brother's friends and family kept secrets from Brielle, I don't support it and I think a lot of the drama came from those secrets because of how she felt and many times I got nervous because I needed our protagonist to know the whole truth but Corinne has handled the book so good.
This book has the perfect touch of suspense, drama and love.
The ending left my heart warm and I can't wait to read the next one in the series.
Thanks to Valentine PR for an advance copy!!

Brother’s best friend ✅
Age gap✅. <— I use this loosely
Amnesia✅
Destined to be together✅
Secret relationship✅
Duel POV ✅
One of my favorites of 2023.
What do you do when you wake up in the hospital? You can’t remember the last 3 years of your life? You find out your brother was killed? And there’s an engagement ring in a drawer in your kitchen?!
That’s what happens to Brielle. She wakes up to find she’s the ONLY witness to her brother’s murder and she doesn’t remember anything for the last 3 years. No one can tell her anything that’s she has missed as it might ruin the case. Frustrated she finally asks one of her brother’s best friends for help. Spencer is an award winning investigative journalist and they go back…..to the begging to figure out what happened and help Bri get her memories back.
Alternate POV with her fiancé is amazing. You can read how heart broken he is while watching Bri navigate. They had a secret relationship to start with so no one knew they were together and now he definitely can’t tell her. Completely devoted to her and heartbroken, he tries to take care of her from afar until she remembers him. But will she?
Book 1 of Rose Canyon series. Stand-alone. HEA.

I’m a little torn about this one TBH.
On the one hand, the writing is so compelling that you can’t help but get sucked into the story.
But…I just found a few things too implausible. Like there is no way Spencer would have been that cool, calm and collected about the whole situation when Brielle first woke up. And no way he would have been that good of an actor to keep his shit together with the whole Henry situation.
And would the police and DA really tell everyone not to tell her aaaaaanything about the 3 years she’d forgotten, so as not to potentially hinder a case they didn’t even have a suspect for?
I know I’m just moaning as usual but it’s the kind of book you get so wrapped up in that you want to throw it across the room and shout at the characters for their decisions - chapter 35, I’m looking at you.

Brielle wakes in a hospital with no memory of what happened in the past 3 years. She’s overwhelmed, frightened, and when she finds out how she got there, devastated.
Spencer spent his younger years being left behind by his mother. He has found the love of his life and now, will she leave him too?
I am so in love with this story. Corinne Michaels is an exceptional writer, I’ve always known that. Her ability to invoke emotions so overwhelming for readers to “suffer” them with the characters is something that I would love to be able to do. Since I haven’t garnered that ability, being able to read the work of someone who does… is a favorite thing for me. I love to get lost in a book. To have the characters become friends, and family. That’s, to me, a good book. Corinne Michaels does that for me every.. single… time I read her work. This book is heart wrenching, and wonderful in so many ways. Five stars is too few for this… far too few. My hat is off to Corinne Michaels for this amazing work.

I wanted to really like this, as a quick read, romance and a bit of intrigue, but I was sort of disappointed.
The premise in its own right, was a bit of a stretch. I don't see how she would be a reliable witness whether or not people told her things, she still experienced memory loss and that can be fought in court.
The character of Brie. Well. Didn't love her. It's the sort of MC in which the world revolves and yet she lets life happen around her, her decisions were not the sharpests nor were her reactions to a very difficult situation for everyone, not just her, and she seemed unable to understand others point of view sometimes.
The character of Spencer, well, he was slightly better. The book did pick up from his POV, save for the fact that he seemed obsessed with how much she loves Brie, couldn't breathe without her to a point where it got a little intense.
The friends were the best part of the book. Brie did not deserve them really.
The ending... Well... It depended on Brie being silly, the intrigue being predictable and easily resolved, and an epilogue that streched a bit much.
I enjoyed the love story from Spencer's perspective for the most part and the friendships, so overall 3/5.
