This is a trimmed down version of my review, to view the full review visit The Book Ramble.

In this, the 20th, volume of Fables we see movement towards the end. The beginning stages of wrap-up. Rose Red begins assembly the knights of the new round table, in her new Camelot. Ozma and Morgan Le Fey continue their work to try and reassemble Bigby. Winter continues working as the North Wind. There are a few other storylines but those are the main ones. There's also a short, non-Camelot related, comic at the end which shows how Fabletown will eventually end.

I really enjoyed this one. This volume had lots of movement and felt less like filler before the end comes. The art was great, as always. The character development was interesting with the reassigning of Camelot's famous roles. I think knowing that the end is coming soon is adding some bitterness to the whole experience overall though, and is making me cautious about the story because what is things don't turn out how I want them to?

I really enjoyed the Camelot plotline. I found it sort of unexpected, aside from knowing the title of the volume I didn't know how it would fit in. I think I should have seen it coming, with the introduction of Morgan Le Fey and the Lady of the Lake all that time ago, but I think I just overlooked those things. I liked the idea of Rose Red working to redeem other people, it definite fits into her story arc ever since Boy Blue died. I liked the sort of "afterlife" section with Bigby, we see the reintroduction of some beloved characters. I am definitely excited, if a little sad, to see how things will tie up as we get closer and closer to the end.

I think Rose Red and Snow White's character development was great. It fit into the story and the mood of their characters in the last few volumes. I was also glad to see the return of some of the more neglected characters. I'm also glad to see the children getting more into their roles, especially with movement on the prophecy happening.

I cannot recommend this series highly enough. It's a great twist on classic stories. This volume certainly did not let me down!

Volume 20 and I think out of the 20 this might only be my 2nd that wasn't a five star rating. Still very good but not up to the usual brilliance. The art is (as always) amazing but the story telling dragged and was a little stale. Willingham by this point had already announced the end of the series and I think he might have been coasting a little bit.

Only two more volumes to go in the series which has been the most amazing rewarding series I've ever read (that includes comics, graphic novels, novels etc.).

Fables had begun its final descent. It's not at the top of its game, but even middling Fables is better than a lot of other stuff out there.

It has been ages since I read the first volume of Fables and still this fairy tale world has so much potential and so much questions that need to be answered for us. I thought this series would never end and as each volume kept getting depressing it was announced that Fables will end with issue #150. My fantasy world felt completely destroyed.

Having that knowledge been announced, it gives me mixed feelings about how it will end and will these next volumes be as creative and full of originality as how the series began. At this point, I am simply reading the series to finally reach the end because every time I find a beautiful solution to the problems in Fables, they keep finding a way to crush my dreams on this beautifully written series.

Since its been a while from the previous volume, I felt a little bit lost over the whole Bigby, Prince Brandish, Snow White's children, and now throw in Camelot with Rose Red. I believe Rose Red is going to fail with Camelot and that is going to the end of the series.

This volume gets a 5 star rating cause of three simple things. 1.) We finally get to see a few famous characters who have died in the series. Which honestly brought back wonderful heartfelt memories and I am so glad that Bill Willingham did that because honestly I was getting mad if we would ever see these people again and the whole belief of being dead in Fables.

2.) This volume is basically just major ground work foundation leading to an epic conclusion of the series.

3.) Out of all the good that is happening in Fabletown, a greater evil lurks around and I love how everything is secretive among certain characters and their plan to destroy Fabletown.

Even though I hate that this series is ending, I think it time to end it while it is still good. I could not give a good review for this volume because I feel that the final volume will be gathering all this volume including this one into this grand finale review.

Thank you Fables for lasting as long as you have and offering me the opportunity to read about a fairy tale world that is discussed constantly but never as original as this has come to light. Let the ending of Fabletown commence!

If half-star ratings were possible on Goodreads, this one would be a 4.5 because it was really good, almost as great as Cubs in Toyland, which is good since it is the beginning of the end for this amazing series, which will be wrapping up in a few more volumes.

This book makes great use of the characters we know and love, in particular Rose Red (who looks absolutely stunning on the cover in her armour, one of my favourite covers for sure). We also get some more interesting development with the cubs, as they continue to grow and differientiate themselves (at very least, I know which ones are Ambrose, Dare, Therese, and Winter now). Finally, there's an awesome return of an old character in probably the best issue collected here, though I won't say who exactly it is.

Fables dragged for a bit since the defeat of the Adversary but volumes like this one show it returning to form and I am very excited to read more and find out just how this brilliant series is going to end.

I like the idea of second chances and I liked the storyline that played out in this volume. Only two more and a side story left to go. Looking forward to seeing how everything wraps up.
