If you have never partaken in Pickax, a small town 400 miles north of everywhere with a rich journalist who is very selfless and had 2 Siamese- one who has a hankering for crime solving... well then you've missed out! The beauty of this series is that you can start anywhere and understand it. Lillian Jackson Braun is a wonderful and whimsical writer with the ability to paint half a picture in you mind. She leaves you with enough mystery to make your own picture, but keeps you on track.
All of the books I've read in this series have been quick, fun reads.

I listened to this on audiobook during a road trip. It was simply fun! The mystery takes place mostly at the end, but Quill has too many social appointments to be dull.

This was a good book, however I did not like it as much as I thought I would. If you like "cozy" mysteries this is a book I can recommend reading.
