People want stories. You should know that, more than anybody. They want their lives to have meaning.

In this story, Irene is on a rescuing mission to get Kai back into their world.

I thought that this book was a bit too long and not as fun as the first one in the series. I was a bit lost at times, not knowing what was going on. At times it felt rushed and not that well explained or considered.

Although the story is highly imaginative and had some pretty cool moments, I wish it had been more elaborate on Kai's family part and the overall story.

The young woman was in a strange land, and she looked around for help, for the King's son had been stolen and she had come across land and sea to find him, in borrowed shoes and a borrowed dress, and with no true friend at her side...

I enjoyed reading it, but it was confusing enough and not so good that I wanted to read the other books in the series.

Excellent second outing for this series. So many second books suffer but this one keeps up the pace and keeps the characters developing. I enjoy more and more the trio of Irene, Vale, and Kai. The world building remains excellent as well; this outing gives you the Venice of the movies in all its splendor and danger along with a fun heist that has a very fast moving clock.
