I don’t think I’ve ever read this book before. I was engaged in the story, and was pleasantly surprised by that. It made the ending hit harder. Would recommend if you like having a broken heart.

If you found the Disney film devastating like I did (when I was young, and still to this day), then just know that it’s even more heartbreaking in the book. The movie was very honourable to the book though. Great adaptation.

I thought that I could read it without tearing up. I failed. It was worse than watching the movie. But still a really good book.

I cried more in reading this book than I did the Disney movie. At first, I was a little cautious about reading this as I had grown up watching the Disney version but I am so happy I finally did.
What a heart-warming and heart-breaking tale of growing up on the Texas frontier and a boy becoming a man with the help of floppy-eared, pie stealing, loyal to the core "yeller" dog.

"How? I asked, "How can you forget a thing like that?"
He studied me for a moment, then shook his head. "I guess I don't quite mean that," he said. "It's not a thing you can forget. I don't guess it's a thing that you ought to forget. What I mean is, things like that happen. They may seem mighty cruel and unfair, but that's how life is a part of the time. But that isn't the only way life is. A part of the time, it's mighty good. And a man can't afford to waste all the good part, worrying about the bad parts. That makes it all bad..."

No início, Travis não suportava ver OLD YELLER.
