I was a bit disappointed with this installment in the series, but I still liked it! There's wasn't much going on between Pietr and Jessie in this one :(

The first two books of this series were highly enjoyable. They represented a new look at werewolves for me, and I rather liked the Russian element. I thought the characters were mostly cool, although I've thought from the beginning that Jessie was kind of weak. But I was getting used to that, and she was getting better. I could see her getting stronger by the book, up through the third book.

Sadly, I won't be sticking around for any more character growth on Jessie's part or anyone else's. I feel like the fourth installment has gotten muddled with the addition of too many new elements/characters and too many alternating POVs (you know how those can drive me crazy). Between Alexi, Jess, and Marlaena, I had a hard time keeping track of what was going on, even though it says who is speaking at the beginning of each section.

I might be alone in this, but I think the series could have ended with book 3. I'd have been a lot happier with it if it had. By now, it feels like Jessie has gone back to being whiny and a martyr and I just can't like her.

I do, however, LOVE Max. He's my favorite character. If this book had focused more on him, I'd still be heading into the following books. He rocks, plain and simple.

Plot-wise, the alternating POVs just made it too confusing, so I kind of gave up on trying to follow what everyone was doing. If the cure had been the main conflict instead of the other group, it would have held my interest, I think.

Sadly, this is just a 'Meh' for me and I won't be continuing the series.

Definitely not my favorite in the series, but still good. I felt like it was just picking up when it ended.

Full review to come.

Really enjoyed reading this book, it was funny that Jess kept mentioning her life or something being a part of a book series, considering this is a book! Very funny! Can't wait for book 5!!!

I hated the ending ... Just ... Ugh! Now what???
Look - the book is good .. Just not as good as I wanted - I don't know - now I'm really confused. So many elements - & Pietr - ugh!
Not happy!! Anyway - we meet new characters & they are another element in this frustrating book. Hopefully the next book has redeeming qualities...

While not my favourite in the series, this was still a good book. I didn't like the new wolves but all the other characters were pretty likable. The thing that bugged me the most was Pietr. Ugh. Talk about annoying. He used to be my favourite but now he's like a completely new character and that just doesn't sit right with me.

I hadn't expected the ending. None at all. Which is what I like about these books. You can never expect what is gonna happen. Just, UGH, do I really have to wait till August to read the next book?

Team Pietr! :)

It was good and I want Pietr to go back to himself!!

I have to say though that although I loved the rest of the series and will definitely be reading the next and final book to this series, this book definitely wasn't the best one. It took a while for me to get into Marlaena's POV but that wasn't my main problem even though I like the bit
Spoilerwhere Jess is kidnapped, I think it's a poor ending though good cliffhanger. I just think more could have been added like it ending on the moment that Pietr realises that Jess is gone so we can see how he reacts.
I don't know what the POVs are in the next book but I wouldn't mind reading Pietr. On one hand I would really like to know what he's thinking but then it might spoil Jess's view of the book:/
I liked the book but don't think it was as good a read as the last ones, especially the 'Secrets and Shadows' ending. I think it needed a bit more happening in it.

When this book opens, all seems perfect for Jess and Pietr. The Russian mob isn't after them anymore, and they've found a cure for the whole "Pietr and his family are werewolves" problem (even though it may only be temporary, still better than nothing). Awesome, right? Except that (a) the cure has made Pietr kind of boring and (b) a new and different pack of werewolves has moved into the town.

The introduction of Marlaena and her pack was fantastic. Even though she's definitely more villain than heroine, I absolutely loved Marlaena and am excited to learn more about her backstory (hopefully in the next book). There are also a lot of plot threads I'm excited to see resolved in the next book (not the least of which is what exactly is going on at that school they attend).

While it's tempting to slam Jess for never being satisfied, I think it's important to point out that I'm glad Shannon Delany chose to showcase the fact that sometimes the things we think we want most are not really good for us. (I think a lot of us have the tendency to want the wrong things, you know?) And while she wants more of a future with Pietr than what she'd get if he stayed a werewolf, it's also important to point out that that's what she fell in love with. And if you were to remove a major trait from someone, obviously they'd be someone completely different. (And obviously she didn't think about that until it was too late.)

This series is incredibly fun and I cannot wait to see where it goes next.
