An entertaining journey of a young European immigrant's wanderings through the trials of his new life in America. Through a frustrating, and absurd, series of events Karl experiences the privileged life of a wealthy immigrant in New York, where the struggles of the working class are merely a curious backdrop to his life, to living the life of a wandering vagrant, where the business of the elite is mysterious and distant. Through these experiences, Karl learns that his freedom in America isn't truly determined by himself.

oh so kafka writes even hopeful novels, I imagine what this would've been if it was finished maybe it would've been like grapes of wrath.
