Super slow paced and then when the action did finally start, it still dragged along. I didn't love this one, but will read the sequel eventually.

I'll definitely rec this to teens, but something about it just didn't resonate with me. I think, maybe, my issue was the frenetic pace of all the action. There's not a lot of downtime in this book, and I wanted some slower spots to really flesh out Billi's world a bit more. Also, the character I most loved ended up with a sword through the chest by the end of the book. BOO!

That said, there's some deliciously gory imagery, lots of cool action and fight scenes, and a very strong and realistic female hero. The nearest parallel I can think of would be Buffy. Good supernatural action read, if that's your thing.

Working through my ARCs, slowly but surely. Not too far into this one yet but it's an easy read and I get a heavy "Buffy" vibe re: the heroine. Shall see....

Final consensus: eh. not bad. not great. Not a waste of time, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it.

I felt like I should have liked this book more than I did. I had to push myself to listen to the audiobook. The narrator was not appropriate for the main character.

The teenage angst was limited to almost normal for a teenager. It was refreshing that the angst was "my Daddy doesn't love me" instead of the typical YA novel "oh, poor me, two boys love me". Hurray for readers!

I was entertained by the ending, which brings the rating up to a 3 star instead of 2.

Bad. What kind of conceited idiot just assumes he's the only possible "one she loves" for his daughter.

I love the book and was sad at the end, but it does give you back hope. Angels can be evil, not always good and evil can be good, but still bad at the same time. This book gives a lot of history. Billy has the face the danger, while trying to maintain normal. But everything seems to fall to pieces. Can she fix it in time to save the world?

I really enjoyed Sarwat Chadda's novel Devil Kiss , I thought it was interesting and it even made me curious about the actual Knight Templars. It was well written, fast paced , and I felt like I was Bili herself. The book felt like I was actually watching a movie. Their was never a dull moment in this story which made me happy. I was able to finish this book quickly and with very few complaints. The only complaints I have are: a) I thought the whole relationship between Kay and Bili could have been more developed. I wish Chadda would have written more about Kay's and Bili's history then just them in the present. Especially after Kay returns from Jerusalem. Because that wasn't developed I felt that the whole year away from each other was nothing, I didn't really see the problem. b) the part where Bili dad reveals stuff at the end felt fake and was taken to non-seriously. I felt it was revealed to quickly which made me go wtf. And c) This isn't really a complaint but I want, I want the last chapter to not of happen. I didn't want that to happen. But because it did happen and I'm acting like this show how Chadda was able to make the readers felt like the protagonist. By the ending of the book I was in tears. There has only been two books that have ever made me cry, one is the Book Thief and the second one is this book. This proves that this is a well written story. I highly recommend this story it was fascinating, intriguing, and a book that was worth my time. I'm excited for it's sequel.

This book was okay.

The beginning was quite slow though. I had to fight through it.

And the character of Billi? Wasn't all that great. Yes, she kicked butt. But she wasn't very funny or lovable. You could only give her pity. There wasn't a lot of depth for her since all she felt was angry and pity. That was about it!

I also found the love triangle a drag... Seriously DON'T mention it if the other guy is doesn't even have a chance. He only applied to it in the first quarter of the book.
And Kay? WTH? This guy did no swoon-worthy acts or anything. All he did was answer Billi's deepest questions which didn't make me want to love this guy. There was no major flash-backs of love in their past. They just missed each other... Yes, my heart wrenched when
SpoilerPercy and Kay died.
But seriously! No love interest for me whatsoever.

Also, where were they? I couldn't exactly figure that out. It was VERY vague. When I read the sypnosis, I thought they would be travelling to Israel or London but apparently not...

Overall, this book could've used a bit of work.
