Next in the series of the Y: Unmanned, Cycles sees Yorick trying to make his way across the country to Dr Mann’s other lab with the secret agent 355 in tow. They managed to get on a train and find themselves in a strange little town in Ohio where the friendly helpful women aren’t all that they seem. Yet again, they get tracked down by the Daughters of Amazon and Yorick’s sister…

Another good story arc, great artwork and engaging characters. I am really pleased this was the first graphic novel I picked up as it is awesome, and I’m really enjoying it. We’re still no further on as to why all the males except Yorick and Ampersand are dead, but I was left wanting more at the end of this volume…

I didn't like this one as well as the first. I think what I liked so much about the first one was that the whole idea of all the men being gone was new, and gave me a lot of things to think about. Now that the idea isn't new anymore, and the story is just about Yorick trying not to get killed, it's not quite as interesting.

It's still good, and the artwork is great, but the language is pretty bad. Does every character have to use the F-word constantly? Seems like the author could have tried harder to make the characters more distinct, instead of basically being all one character with different faces. And, although I know it's hard in a graphic novel, I would like to see some character development. Like what happened with his sister? How did she get to the point where she is? Honestly, Yorick is not that interesting, so too much revolving around him isn't as good as this story could be, I think.

Still, I would recommend this to fans of graphic novels. I'm still looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

Enjoyed this even more than the first. The series has a lot of Vaughan's trademark humour, whilst also offering different and interesting perspectives on what would happen if all men died (except one) and women inherited the earth. Though there are plenty of crazies in this post-men era, the story and themes are ultimately very feminist.

Since you really need to read all of the books to get a complete picture, my review can be found on book 10

I definitely want to keep reading Y: The Last Man though this volume wasn't quite as compelling as the first. There's plenty of action and lots of questions unanswered, but I found some of the characters a bit lacking in clear motivation.

After Volume 1 set things up fast, Volume 2 moved them along only slowly. Hope #3 picks up the pace a little.

A strong follow up to this first trade. Still can't say I'm that taken with the art, but it's growing on me, and the cover art is stunning. The Amazons' portrayed the worst of feminism, but I can't say they were that unrealistic. Hero becoming a man hating feminist willing to throw her brother under a bus makes no sense, but to his credit Vaughan does try to hand wave it away with "brainwashing". An enjoyable read, with enough hook to want you reading the next instalment.
