Free Food for Millionaires walked so that Pachinko could run. While I enjoyed Pachinko better, Min Jin Lee’s characters are all so beautifully flawed and diverse that it was easy to fly through this book to learn more about what happens to them.

Really immersive and richly detailed and realistic. A great character study, everyone was authentically complicated and inconsistent. But I felt that it didn't really go anywhere and left me a bit unsatisfied. However, the day after finishing, I am disappointed that I can't pick it up again and keep reading...I already miss all the new characters I got to know, and I want to spend more time with them and check in with their lives.
