The Best Laid Plans is a light and easy, low angst read with characters you can't help falling for! Burke and Charlotte have great chemistry and develop a good connection with each other but it got dragged by the end. There's a lot of family dynamic and football, and in true Karla Sorensen form.I can recommend this if you like a opposites-attract romance, where the characters go through rough patches, but come out at the end stronger than they went in.

This story is a poignant romance exploring love, family, and friendship. Burke Barrett, a former football player, faces life's challenges, including grief and unexpected inheritances. When he meets Charlotte Cunningham, a passionate restoration expert, their connection is palpable, yet the story doesn't shy away from addressing their emotional struggles, from infertility to childhood trauma. The novel beautifully captures the importance of chosen family and supportive relationships, creating a heartwarming atmosphere. While Burke's emotional struggles sometimes felt overwhelming, the book's realism added depth to the characters. Despite the heaviness, the story's genuine portrayal of love and its transformative power deeply moved me. This is a compelling read, evoking a mix of emotions that lingers long after the final page.

Solid free audio on Kindle Unlimited. Really loved both narrators. Just a good easy listen! Will definitely listen to the next book… I have a feeling I know who it’ll be about!

Audible through Kindle Unlimited. Pretty good. Narrators made a formulaic story much better. Love me some Connor Craise. 🌶️🌶️🌶️  grumpy ex football player w commitment issues inherits decrepit grand house and historian hired is hot.
