Very *very* much not my usual speed. And quite good.

I always find myself misty-eyed while reading this series. The softness and gentleness of the main characters warms my heart.

My opinion!!!

While I adore the dream healers series, I find this book is extremely pastoral with even less conflict than it's prequels. While I find it a nice respite after the stress of the Wet debacle, I do think this book is a bit too much of a lull for me. I still love it, but it's almost too calming for a full 5 stars like the others if that makes sense.

Soothing

The best word to describe this book is “soothing.”
It touches your heart, lifts the edges of your lips in a smile, and wraps you in a warm hug. Satisfying and gentle, and a lovely addition to this series.

By the time I got around to this one, I was pretty much finished with all the M.C.A. Hogarth books I can personally handle iin a glom. I'm just not built for reading dozens of books in a row by a given author before I need something new, and so, while this one was good, it felt a little self-indulgent for my tastes.

I didn't particularly enjoy the excerpts of the terrible romance novel Va'set'h's sisters make him read. Hogarth has portrayed romance with much more nuance in other books, but I'm not sure I needed the homage to her teenage self.

As for the plot in this one, I felt like it all hinged on a coincidence that was a little too pat to really work. Given how much Jahir and Va'set'h had to work for things in the last book, I felt like things came to them too easily in this one.

I still enjoyed the story and the visit with these characters. I would have just liked stakes that were a little higher.

Has more of a 'slice of life' feel than the rest of the series. Still very good, but not everyone's (or my) cup of tea.

Fun read

I especially enjoyed the snippets at the end, of various cases they helped with. The last one was so sad.
