This book had so many twists and turns keeping me fully engrossed. I found myself initially wanting the group not to be found out until the darker hidden corners were slowly revealed. An incredibly inventive ending that I couldn't possibly have seen coming! My only 'criticism' would be that the greek and latin references went straight over my head.

Slow burn with awful characters and lots of passages which ended up being completely irrelevant, but such a dark and unique read with a surprising plot

I might come back to my rating for this.
I also might not.
It feels like it'll stick in my head a while. Like a bad dream.

A riveting tale of dark academia, and murder, with an inquiry into the idea of ethics. Dark and mysterious, it follows the lives of 6 university students studying Greek literature, pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable in search of a loftier goal, until it all descends into evil. The writing is thoroughly engrossing, filled with references to literatures and texts from around the world. Utterly memorable.

This is art. A picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes a few thousand words can say even more than I thought possible. I was carried along by the stream of this story in a way I haven’t been for years. I couldn’t predict her at any turn, yet nothing fell out of place; everything happened as it could only have happened. I marvel at the genius of authorship.

Dark academia. There are many characters in this book, which I often struggle with, but it comes into focus in the last half. The main character/narrator is not remarkable in any way, but his depression and follower tendencies were very relatable. The writing was incredible. I almost felt my college depression returning to me as she described the long dark nights and the feeling of being lost, aimless, invisible…
