This series just keeps getting better and better!

This book starts off with our hero Arrow on a rescue mission to bring back an abducted little girl. Little did he know that this little girl is with a woman named Morgan who has been missing for a year.

I am IN LOVE with the couple in this story! The chemistry between Morgan and Arrow was immaculate and deliciously slow burn—reasonable given what Morgan went through. Arrow was the most perfectly patient hero ever in letting Morgan set the pace in their relationship yet he was also the sweetest in making her feel safe every step of the way.

And the suspense aspect? It absolutely DELIVERED. I was trying to guess who the villain was the whole time, and when that was revealed, I didn't see it coming!

All in all, I'm still making my way through this series, but I can already say tha this book is the strongest contender for being my most favorite.

I can't wait to read the next Mountain Mercenary book!

I really enjoyed this one! I loved getting to see Arrow find the woman that intrigued him and working to get her safe. Morgan has been captured and held against her will for a year. Horrible things have happened to her but she gets lucky when the Mountain Mercenaries show up to rescue Nina, a little girl, that has been there for a few weeks. They get them both out but they also learn that someone has been paying to have Morgan kept there, alive, for the last year. They need to figure out who did it in order to make sure Morgan stays safe. There were quite a few little twists in this one as they tried to figure out who did it. I loved watching Morgan gain more strength as she acclimated back into a more normal life. Arrow was fantastic with her and very patient. I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait for more.

This was a book I didn't want to put down.

It was pretty good for a surprise bad guy and it was nice it didn't focus on what happened to her which I was glad for.

In my opinion the author does a good job of portraying Morgan’s strengths and her weaknesses as well. She has undergone severe trauma, and given the circumstances, remains resilient and compassionate as she cares for a little girl more vulnerable than herself. Moreover, Morgan has uniquely been able to survive and retain her inherent good judgment to aid her rescuers as they all flee their captors. Her abilities are not over-sensationalized, and as such we see the inner strength of this character who strives to move forward beyond her trauma. As expected she struggles after a year of captivity to adjust to her ‘new’ life, and we, as the reader, are patient and cheer for her healing.

Good story.
Typical Susan stoker style. Faithful, devoted Hero. Heroine with a backbone of steel under duress.

This series has a darker undertone that the authors other work.
The heroine has suffered sexual abuse while in captivity, it is vague, there are no details or scenes replayed (In flashback) but it's stated as happened and she has to deal with the consequences, testing at a clinic and fear of intimacy.

No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating or other woman/man drama.

Strong secondary characters and possible breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series and updates of previous characters and couples from previous books.
HEA.

I have really been enjoying Susan Stoker's Mountain Mercenaries Series and her third instalment Defending Morgan was no different. As it had suspense, a little action, a sweet romance and was very engaging to read. And I loved all the characters, particularly Morgan, who after surviving a year in captivity returns to the States battered, bruised, but not broken. And with the help of the delectable and charming good guy Arrow she is able to start to rebuild her life and help the team find who was responsible for her captivity, and whilst I did guess, all be it just before the person was revealed. I did still really enjoy the final confrontation and the hate exhibited was really something.

Plus, I enjoyed the somewhat extended epilogue and I'm excited for book four and Harlow's story. And I would happily recommend Defending Morgan to others.
