The best comic I've read in ages. The only thing that could make it better is if Black Canary showed up and punched Hitler in the face.

Bombshells was... fine. The story was a bit disjointed as we followed a lot of different POVs that were barely related to each for the entirety of the first volume. I think other people might get more of a kick out of seeing their favourite characters reimagined in a WWII settings but I found it pretty meh. We spend too little time with any individual character to get invested in them outside of their character designs. Which I will admit were cool.
I could have probably read another volume this if wasn't for the wildly varied art styles for every POV. I personally find that very jarring to read and most of the art in the book wasn't to my personal taste anyway.
It's kind of disappointing because I've been anticipating reading this series for year but unfortunately it just wasn't for me.

Not to cross the streams, but do you know how there's that moment in The Avengers where Cap excitedly declares he "understood that reference"? Unless you have a working knowledge of the deep bench of DC's heroes (and their names), you'll be a little lost in the wilderness on Bombshells (I know I was). The art is great and the conceit is clever as hell, and I should have been its number one fan. Somehow, though, this bombshell missed its target.

World War II was a time when women stepped up and kept society running when the men left for the battlefield. What isn’t usually mentioned though it just how much of a role women played in the war. In this first volume of Bombshells, we see just how impactful our heroines from across the world were in helping to fight off the Nazis.
Man, this was such a let down. I loved the idea behind this series with how strong and important each of these women were and I absolutely loved the art style of the entire thing. My biggest issue was that within the first pages I was dreadfully bored. The lgbtqia+ was great in the volume but I didn’t feel any real level of intrigue at all. I think there was just too much going on and by the time I was starting to get interested in a storyline, we moved on to another. Pretty disappointed since I as really looking forward to this and have loved some of the author’s other work. I doubt I’ll be continuing on.

Well that was disappointing. I had heard such great things about this and it unfortunately didn't work for me. Everything felt mixed together and nothing flowed well. I just couldn't get into it. It started strong but fizzled out real quick. Truly disappointed.
