Yes, yes, YES! Again, this is exactly what I wanted - the drama, the intrigue, the romance, the twists and betrayals, the CHEESE! I'm unashamed to admit that I loved it all and that I may or may not have binge read the whole book in a day.

I definitely recommend this if you want a cheesy book of the supernatural.

I fell hard for Ash in this one!! He definitely reminded me of all the book boyfriends and characters on TV shows that I love. The other characters were meh at best. While Mary was a bit interesting, especially with her bond with Ash, but she annoyed me most of the time. This book was a quick read, and I do like the fighting against the patriarchy. I just ended up bored, but I finished it because Ash was the best part of the story. And the only reason I kept going.

I have to say I really liked the Plot but I didn't really like the characters. Of course, Ash was irresistible but other than him no other character was quite as ... interesting.

This is not necessarily a GOOD book, but it is delightful and that is truly what matters. I'm not sure if I would love it as much if I didn't have preteen nostalgia for it - I loved all of L.J. Smith books - but as is, I had a grin on my face the entire time I was reading it. It's what Twilight should have been.

Mary-Lynette likes science, and kicks the boy who tries to save her, and kills the boy she likes because he tries to eat her, and protects her brother, and lectures ash on being prejudiced. these books are silly, but they consistently center a girl's story, perspective, and autonomy. and I'm super glad she didn't become a vampire. that would have ruined everything.

This is by far my favorite Night World book. The plot isn't really anything great, but all of the characters. from Ash's sisters to Mary-Lynnette and Ash himself, definitely make up for it. Despite the lack of interactions and scenes between these two, Mary-Lynnette and Ash are my favorite soulmate couple.
